Democrats Agenda For a Power Grab, by Ken Blackwell
New York Post ^ | December 10, 2008 | Ken Blackwell

Barack Obama ran on the promise of bringing America together, but Democrats in Congress seem more eager to use their majorities to expand and cement their power across the entire federal government.

If Republicans are to avoid becoming a permanent minority, they need to stop five hyperpartisan bills likely to come to the floor over the first half of 2009.

1) Card Check: Labeled the Employee Free Choice Act, this bill would fundamentally undermine the rights of workers and business owners.

The law now guarantees workers' right to a secret ballot in deciding whether to unionize. This bill (which Obama co-

sponsored in the Senate and has promised to support as president) instead forces them to declare publicly - empowering union "observers" to "help" them decide.

Out-of-state, bare-knuckled brawlers would have their hands on the shoulders of workers as they vote on whether to unionize. This is voter intimidation that even George McGovern, the Democrats' very liberal 1972 presidential nominee, opposes.

Unions spent tens of millions to help Obama win, and they see this as the way to surge their membership and their future finances. That would vastly increase the power of a core part of the Democratic coalition.

2) The Censorship Doctrine: Falsely labeled "the Fairness Doctrine," this would force "equal time" rules on radio and TV stations. So a station that carries Rush Limbaugh for three hours a day would have to either add three hours of a liberal host, or dump Rush and just play music instead. Democratic leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Jeff Bingaman are calling for its passage.

These Democrats want to silence those they regard as unfriendly to their politics - suppressing dissenting voices on the airwaves....

How could Blackwell have forgotten the “Freedom of Choice” Act that will increase the slaughter of the unborn and newly born?

I’m sure McCain will bring “bi-partisanship” to the process and deliver a deal that will make liberals happy and piss off conservatives.

Barack Obama ran on the promise of bringing America together/guess that is why Micky Mouse voted for him per ACORN paper work.

Barack Obama ran on the promise of bringing America together...

Nonsense. Barack Hussein Obama is the most divisive politician of our generation.

I was thrilled to see Forbes endorse him for RNC chairman, as he’d be a great communicator and set a genuinely conservative tone for the RNC.

It is said that the masses eventually get what they want, when in actuality they get much more. It is called totalitarianism.
