Board seats, many on wealthy "non-profits," seem to have become more fashionable as a great way to make payoffs to favored friends. It is hard to prove quid pro quo in such cases.

But Obama working on a “non-profit” was an act of charitable kindness, right? That’s how it was portrayed to us on the news.

Why am I not surprised in the least to hear about this?

Doesn't Illinois have laws against bribery and such? What gives the Federal Government the right to interfere in this matter? (Yes, I know I'm old fashioned.)

What does Obama know about this and when did he know it?

Chicago talk radio is talking non-stop about this “outrage.” What a joke. IMO, this is business as usual in Illinois politics. Mike Madigan wants his daughter, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, to be the next governor. Now he won’t have to wait. There are already cries for impeachment. Illinois is run by a few families who can enrich themselves and their friends. Blago was on the opposite side this time, but what he has done if he was trying to put out bids for Obama’s Senate seat is “business as usual.” The opposition got the tape regarding the Senate appointment and they moved on it immediately. Sends a message to others that if you don’t play the game, the Feds will come and take you away too. The news media must be in on it. They don’t know the meaning of “investigative journalism.” If they did, there would be stories like this every day. This is what you get with one party rule. This is the “change” coming to Washington via the Illinois Democrat Party, IMO.

I believe that the timing of this arrest was accelerated by Fitz because he had reason to believe that Zero was indeed about to put together a nice little offer to Blago for “naming rights” to his old Senate seat.

Flash—Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan (and next governor of Illinois) just announced on the radio that if Blago doesn’t resign and the legislature doesn’t do anything, SHE will. There is a Rule 382 whereby she can file suit with the Supreme Court of Illinois to remove Blago from office. She was “shocked”, “outraged”, etc. by what Blago has been accused of doing. Business as usual in Illinois....Also, the legislature has been called into a special session on Monday, probably to address this issue. The Dems will want to move quickly on this, lest some Republican somewhere could appear as a gubernatorial candidate. IMO, if Obama is involved in this in any way, there will be no evidence of it. It is internal infighting among state Dems, IMO.
