Janet Napolitano wasn't the only female governor Ed Rendell was heard sizing up over an open mike at Tuesday's National Governors Conference. He also opined about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, praising her "very good political instincts" in a conversation picked up near the podium.

Therein lies the problem. He said something positive about Palin and must be vilified.
I think Fast Eddie is right about Sarah. That’s what makes her such a pragmatic threat to the left’s elite.
“very good political instincts”
He should be so intelligent as Gov Palin. The man is a jerk and a half.
Actually, I think Ed was right on the money with everything he said. It IS better to have someone as security sec who doesn’t have a family, especially a woman. So what if there’s a double standard? That doesn’t mean that a married woman with children couldn’t do it, but it’s better with anyone, esp. a woman, without an immediate family and those demands on their time.
Palin has wonderful political instincts, but I never saw her as a genius. I double she sees herself that way. Geniuses have a tendency to spend their time talking or working in the lab, not doing what needs to be done as a successful politician. Palin is talented, intelligent and a superb politician. Eddies didn’t do a bad job here.
Rendell is very intelligent and a relatively good politician. I don’t agree with a lot of things he’s done, but he’s a very competent manager. He gets himself in trouble because he calls things as he sees them then takes flak from the PC members of his own party and media. He was the best major Philadelphia had had in decades.
“Palin has wonderful political instincts, but I never saw her as a genius”.
...exactly what we DON’T need! Palin has great instincts, guts, stamina, is positive and has common sense. Those make for a great POTUS. (IMHO) BO is a criminal genius. Not good.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Don’t worry, he probably already apologized.
The Napolitano comments were blown way out of proportion by soup Brown. She insisted the comments were sexist.
Of course, she’s been outstanding in sticking up for Sarah Palin during this past election cycle.

"The "not a genius" part is so difficult to hear, it's uncertain if Rendell said it, according to CNN.
It's difficult to hear and you can't verify it was said, but make sure everyone knows that it might have been!
Is that real? If so, where is it?
Yeah, some in the media seem to have had another flare up of the pds. Those big crowds and Saxby giving her credit really ticked them off.
LOL....that is so true, Antoninus....... I know guys who worked for him and they will tell you flat out that he is a hound when it comes to the ladies......I hate his politics but he is a likable rogue. And I can’t hate a man too much who is a stand up Eagles fan and doesn’t care who knows it.
In dispute is whether Rendell is also heard saying, "She's not a genius."
Now Ed. I don't think you want to challenge her IQ scores.
