Palin Does Georgia: What Does It Mean?
Washington Post ^ | December 2, 2008 | Chris Clizza

Posted on 12/02/2008 1:50:52 PM PST by lewisglad

Palin's decision to blanket the state with appearances -- and the rock-star reception she is receiving -- speaks to two basic facts about the former vice presidential nominee: she is beloved by the base of the party and she has absolutely no intention of stepping off the national stage any time soon.

While Palin has been widely derided by many political commentators and many Democrats, it's hard to dispute that there is no more appealing face for the party faithful at the moment than her's.

Though few in the GOP base would admit it publicly, there is a significant weariness with President George W. Bush and, to a lesser extent, Sen. John McCain. Palin represents something totally different -- in the way she looks, the way she talks and in her résumé.

"She's a very, very fresh face for every Republican, and some independents, said Fred Davis, the lead media consultant for McCain's presidential race. "She is a breath of fresh air."

And, remember, that runoff elections are fundamentally a fight between the two parties' bases; turnout is a HUGE problem for both sides in runoffs so any politician who can provide a jolt of energy to the base -- a la Palin -- is a hugely valuable commodity for a politician like Chambliss

The interest in Palin from those who count themselves loyal Republican footsoldiers is compounded by the Alaska governor's clear desire to remain a player (and potential candidate) in the party for years to come.

She's been bitten hard by the political bug and is willing to endure long plane rides to stay in the national game," said Phil Musser, a GOP media consultant.

Imagine the surprise in the PravdaMedia in 2012, if they would find Sarah Palin “revving up conservative the base” — and “the conservative base” is greater than 50% of the voters.

blanket the state? these writers just dont give up.

she showed up at 2 places while she was on her way to that governors meeting today. from what i understand they asked her to do it. it’s not like she went out of her way to intrude or step on anyone’s toes.

also, if youve ever been to Alaska from Nov-Mar, it’s not exactly a fun place. Intense cold, always dark, very depressing. So, I don’t blame her if she wants to get away every now and then.

Demonically evil.

All conservatives need to understand that -- and not contribute to the sexualization (defilement) of Sarah Palin.

Are they nuts. One thing the election did show is that many in the GOP "base" are very weary of President Bush and Sen. McCain and they are NOT reluctant to "admit" it.

There are a multitude of bible verses that apply to Palin and how the world is treating her.

She’s a Godly woman, living her life as best as a sinner can, and she’s hated for it (2 Cor 2:14-17, Mat 5:14).

They don’t understand her, or us for liking her (John 3:19-21, John 1:5, Titus 1:15).

Jesus told us to expect this (John 15:18-25)

"True general election campaigns will have to make a hard decision if her appeal to certain conservatives is worth losing moderates and independents," said Weaver. I forgot - what year is it? 2008? That's what I thought. She has plenty of time to prove people wrong and make more of a name for herself and achieve more experience and accomplishments for others to see (although we all know she had far more experience than others on the ticket this year). But she has plenty of time to hone in on policies and work on a pertinent message to ALL AMERICANS that will really grab their attention. 4 yrs. is also plenty of time for Obama to change peoples' minds as well - LOL! That is if she even chooses to run for national office - it's all up to her, her family and God.

“She’s been bitten hard by the political bug and is willing to endure long plane rides to stay in the national game,” said Phil Musser, a former executive director at the RGA and now a GOP media consultant.

For people that make their living with words and images, I thought Mr Musser phrased a negative interpretation deliberately.

Somewhere around -20, the sensation changes from "cold" to "pain". I've been in -60, and it just hurts more than -20. After a week of that, getting up to 0 means going without a coat for short periods outside.

I was in line at the bank today and they had on CNBC and there was Sarah talking about the bail outs. I caught the last, couldn’t really tell what she was talking about other than she was against bail outs. The ‘reporter’ then went on and on saying she couldn’t answer the question and showed she wasn’t ready for prime time. Then he went on to talk about the democrats in Alaska blasting her for being gone and talking care of business in her home state. It was a nasty report. They fear this woman, I think even more today than during the election.

SP is doing exactly what she needs to do right now -raising cash and enthusiasm for GOP candidates. She needs people to owe her their political lives so she can call in the favors when the time comes. It will take her at least two election cycles to build her machine. Then, with the pipeline built, she can run a monster campaign in ‘16.

While Palin has been widely derided by many political commentators...

Palin, the one candidate with guts and spunk, reminded voters that McCain was simply the same 'ol same boring WashingtonDC cliche wrapped up in a frumpy ill-looking message and body. (shallow? yes, but true)

Ironically, Palin probably DID hurt McCain by reminding voters just how wimpy and awful McCain is on the stump... and in the halls of Congress.

she's a fiscal conservative but also a realist...she is personally against abortion and gay rights but she will not go against the court rulings, and she has proven that.....

she can appeal to all Pubs and rats as well....IF they believe in limited and honest govt.
