Lou Dobbs: Outrageous, Bush pardons 14 people, including drug dealers, but not Ramos & Compean
CNN Lou Dobbs Tonight ^ | November 24, 2008 | Transcript Staff

Posted on 11/25/2008 12:50:24 AM PST by flattorney

- - Tonight an outrageous move from the White House, President Bush pardoning 14 people, including drug dealers. But not former border patrol agents Ramos and Compean.

DOBBS: President Bush today granted 14 pardons and he commuted two prison sentences. Five of those given clemency were convicted of serious drug charges. In what is an outrageous miscarriage of justice, former border patrols Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean serving lengthy prison sentences were not included on the president's list. They are serving those sentences for shooting and wounding an illegal alien drug dealer who they were pursuing and who was given immunity by the prosecutor to testify against those two border patrol agents. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have called for them to be released from prison. So far the White House has ignored those pleas and has done so again today.

“Bush can do nothing until the DOJ makes a decision.”Thanx for that detail.I was livid when i learned GW had pardoned several individuals and not C+R.IOW’s-there’s still a possibility these men will get out of prison.Fingers crossed.

We can expect Bush now to make a series of decisions that will be increasingly worse. He will be anxious to be polite and be increasingly indifferent to popular will and indifferent to what he sees as “too conservative” constitutional concerns.

2 peas in the proverbial pod

Now whenever I think of Bush 2, for some reason Carter comes up right along with him.

Here’s what Tammy Bruce has to say about Bush and Pardons.

Bush Pardons a Bunch of Drug Dealers

And other scum, but leaves border patrol agents Ramos and Compean to rot in prison. Nice.

Bush pardons 14 and commutes 2 prison sentences

President George W. Bush has granted pardons to 14 individuals and commuted the prison sentences of two others convicted of misdeeds ranging from drug offenses to tax evasion, from wildlife violations to bank embezzlement, The Associated Press learned Monday.

The new round of White House pardons are Bush’s first since March and come less than two months before he will end his presidency. The crimes committed by those on the list also include offenses involving hazardous waste, food stamps, and the theft of government property...

On the latest pardon list were:

_Andrew Foster Harley of Falls Church, Va. Harley was convicted of wrongful use and distribution of marijuana and cocaine...

_Geneva Yvonne Hogg of Jacksonville, Fla., convicted of bank embezzlement. (Maybe the pardon came with a bailout, too!)...

_Robert Earl Mohon Jr. of Grant, Ala., who was convicted of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

_Ronald Alan Mohrhoff of Los Angeles, who was convicted for unlawful use of a telephone in a narcotics felony...

Bush also commuted the prison sentences of John Edward Forte of North Brunswick, N.J., and James Russell Harris of Detroit, Mich. Both were convicted of cocaine offenses.

This shouldn’t be the last round of pardons. There’s still time for Bush to do the right thing, which would at least make his last term a tiny bit less the disaster that it is.

They don’t deserve a pardon.

Commutation of sentence, yep. But not a pardon.

If pardoned, these two idiots could become LEO’s AGAIN.

Sorry, they lied about discharging their firearms. Thats ‘that’ folks.

The sentence is excessive, hence my view a communation of that sentence is in order.

But no pardon. They should never be allowed to work in any law enforcement capacity again, and a pardon would make that possible.

Lou Dobbs has previously also spoken out on this outrage. So has Glenn Beck. Bush knows these men were framed. Yet he did nothing.

I sent off an email to “comments@whitehouse.gov” today asking him to pardon them. We can all do that, at the very least.

I've read all of the transcripts.

If they lied, as you assert, you should be able to tell me exactly what statement they made that was a lie, to whom it was made, and when.

Go for it.

Likewise, you should know they did, if you read them.

That you claim to have done so, but still state they didn’t speaks for itself.

I don’t feel ‘bad’ for them, sorry. They screwed up. The sentence is way to harsh for the crime they committed, and should be commuted. but no pardon. They can’t be allowed to reenter law enforcement, and a pardon would do just that.

Bush is going to disappoint a lot of people if he doesn’t give these guys a pardon. I just don’t understand it...
