Pelosi to Light Capitol's Energy-Efficient Christmas Tree @ 5:10 pm by Hill Staff

This year's U.S. Capitol Christmas tree will bring the gift of light–energy-efficient light–to Washington, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office (D-Calif.) said Monday.

Pelosi's office said the Speaker, joined by the Montana's congressional delegation and governor, will participate in a ceremony Tuesday, December 2 to light the tree, a 70-foot subalpine fir from a Montana national forrest.

The tree won't be the only "green" component in the Christmas celebration, though. The tree will be decorated with energy-efficient LED lights, part of the Capitol's efforts to conserve energy.

The lighting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on the West Front of the Capitol.

She drives up in her taxpayers supplied 757, hops into a 10 mpg Suburban, all the show is to light an energy efficient Christmas tree — And tell us about it. How nice. I wonder what the round-trip carbon footprint to CA for Thanksgiving looks like? I bet it's a lot worse than the GM and Ford corporate jets combined ...

Of course, since the media won't cover it, I guess it doesn't happen.

Typical liberal, do as I say, not as I do.

"70-foot subalpine fir from a Montana national forrest."

First, what is a forrest? Second, How did they get a 70 foot tree from Montana to DC? Time to go fire up my V8s to celebrate the carbon savings.

I’m glad that at least Reid and Pelosi and Biden have some religious faith; that the Obama voters still passed prop 8 in CA.
Obama on the other hand probably really is an atheist, like his mother.

Is this the same as the National Christmas Tree? I thought the lighting ceremony was conducted by the President.
