PETA Condemns Sarah Palin's Turkey Slaughter News Conference By Samantha Chang
The horrific video of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin blithely discussing her failed vice presidential bid as a live turkey is slaughtered behind her has ignited a media firestorm.
Palin, 44, was an unknown local politician until John McCain plucked her out of obscurity and chose her as his running mate on Aug. 29.
Since then, Palin has come under fire for her vast ignorance of current affairs, incoherent babblings to the press and her lavish $150,000 wardrobe, courtesy of the Republican National Committee. But her latest scandal takes the cake.
On Nov. 20, Palin appeared on local Alaska TV during an event to "pardon" a turkey from slaughter--a tradition lifted from the annual White House Thanksgiving ceremony. But after she saved one turkey from certain death, Palin, 44, proceeded to grant a lengthy interview as live turkeys were fed into a machine clearly pictured behind her that sliced off their heads and drained their blood.
When the reporter pointed out that the turkey-slaughtering machine might not be the best background for the interview, Palin said she didn't mind. "This was neat," Palin gushed. "I was happy to get to be invited to participate in this."
PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has condemned the horrific video and the gross mistreatment of our feathered friends.
In a statement, David W. Perle of PETA said:
Governor Palin has given Americans a view to a kill, showing that no matter where turkeys are killed, they fight for their lives and struggle in pain as their throats are slit and the blood drains from their bodies.
PETA released the findings from a two-month undercover investigation of turkey factory farms this week, and that video can be seen here.
They should be congratulating her for exposing in a couple of minutes what it took them two months to do!!!
The selection was carefully made. It’s a joke, but it comes just before the Gov turns in her 2010 Budget and you haven’t seen slaughter yet.
We live in a country of wimps. That is reality people, live with it.
I’m sure PETA was equally quick to condemn the ‘Obama Victory Slaughter’ in Kenya three weeks ago as well:
Barack Obama’s Kenyan family to celebrate by slaughtering bulls, chicken and goats

They were...right? RIGHT??!?!
Do they ever protest that Muslim festival where goats and sheep are slaughtered? If not, why not?/s
Kill, baby, kill.
I don’t know about anyone else, but it makes me hungry and horny at the same time.
Horrific? HORRIFIC?? oy. it looked pretty humane to me, but of course, I LIVE in Alaska. We kill critters for food all the time. Poor PETA, with nobody paying attention to them for a long time, I guess they need to get out there and stir something up.
That’s why I get my turkey from the store!
No, it hasn't. Except among the same idiot's that don't eat turkey on Thanksgiving......enjoy your tofo and STFU.
Who won this election Obie or ‘Cuda? It seems Sarah is getting more press than McCain or Biden as well...
When I was a kid I used to watch my grandparents cut off the heads of live chickens and hang them upside down to let the blood drain. After that they would pluck the feathers and then cook them up in a brick oven or deep fryer. Best chicken I ever ate.
They should be protesting the slaughter of innocent babies.
can we start a group to affirm everything that PETA condemns? Maybe “PETA: People Eating Tasty Animals?”
Where do these idiots think the millions of turkeys that are consumed on Thanksgiving come from .. some sort of play-doh fun factory?
Where was PETA when the ‘Cuda was shooting wolves from Helicopters? :)
