Either they were planning the mother of all Grey Cup parties or they don't want to go shopping for awhile.
Whatever the reason, police are scratching their heads in the wake of the bizarre theft of four tractor-trailers filled with meat and booze.
Police say thieves cut their way into a locked compound at a business in Puslinch Township on Saturday night and took off with the trucks. The trailers were loaded with hundreds of cases of chicken breasts, striploin beef, alcoholic beverages, plus new winter vehicle tires.
The value of the stolen loads and vehicles is estimated at nearly $530,000.
Police say the four stolen tractors are all Freightliner models.
All four trailers are new, white in colour with LS in large blue letters over the rear wheels and on the rear doors.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Rockwood OPP detachment at 519-856-1506 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

police are scratching their heads...
I guess they never saw any movies or TV shows about organized crime, where truck heists are routine, because the mob can sell the valuables for cash.
Duh.

The thieves will need connections to get rid of the stuff. Considering the amount of stuff, especially the booze, it will require a large number of retail outlets to absorb that amount of illicit goods.
Seems strange that that kind of compound would not have a night watchman. If it did have one it seems doubly strange that he did not see anything.

Somebody reported $3 million worth of Tony Llama boots had been stolen in several truckloads from a Texas wear house recently. The tractor just showed up, hooked up and drove away with trailer loads.
