Screen Actors Guild to seek to authorize strike
By MarketWatch

TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) - The Screen Actors Guild, representing some 120,000 actors in movies, TV, the Internet, commercials, new media and more, said on Saturday that it would ask its members to authorize a strike after a federal mediator failed to bring the union and management to terms. The guild said that it had been optimistic that a mediator's intervention would move the talks along but that after two days of mediated talks, management "continues to insist on terms we cannot responsibly accept on behalf of our members."
The statement said the 75-year-old guild hasn't set a timetable during which it would mail and members would return the strike-authorization ballots.
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents more than 350 production companies and studios, said in a statement that "SAG is the only major Hollywood guild that has failed to negotiate a labor deal in 2008.
"Now, SAG is bizarrely asking its members to bail out the failed negotiating strategy with a strike vote -- at a time of historic economic crisis. The tone deafness of SAG is stunning."

amaxing!
these socialists have no clue.
Yes, please srike. How delicious. Shut down Hollywood leftist propaganda machine.
Note to SAG: Make our day :)
I thought they were called the Film Actors Guild?
Nice call.
Good.
I'm a member...granted on leave of absence as a SAG card is a terrible thing to lose, BUT...
STRIKE - America isn't getting quality movies to view, rather agenda driven crap with no plots and poor character development.
The economy is in the tank
People are dialing down even for their Christmas spending.
Unemployment is up and going up.
Hollywood is producing crap movies that few people are interested in seeing.
With all that what do the idiots at the Screen Writers Guild want to do?
STRIKE.
Good for them. Hope the fools never work again....
Is there an Author’s Guild? If they strike, then I’d actually notice.
I agree.....let them strike. If they are dumb enough to strike during these times.....go for it. Nobody cares any longer. If any of them had any kind of education they would know their timing is all wrong.
As long as it doesn’t interfere with 24 this time. Believe it debuts tomorrow night with a two hour special?
Two days? Must be an eternity for Hollywoodies used to getting whatever they want when they want it. Idiot children. Let' em strike. Who really cares.
PleasePleasePleasePleasePleasePleasePleasePleasePleasePleasePlease....
Yawn.
Folks should start making their own TV shows and movies. Show ‘em on Youtube. Bet some of them would be entertaining. Who needs Hollywierd?
As far as I’m concerned they can stay off the job for the next twenty years. They’ve conditioned me to doing without their questionable services.
...Hollyweird....
