Wesley Mooch and Tinky Holloway are fighting for the directorship...Directive 10-289 is being penned and John Galt is nowhere to be found.

The one thing they absolutely need to do they’ll not be able to do—because Obama and the Democrats are fully-owned subsidiaries of the unions.

The idiots in the Dem party think the solution to the Big Three’s problems is to go green. HA! That will kill them faster than anything else. With their cost structure, they will lose $$ on every small (and electric) car they sell. Americans may SAY they want electric cars, but I bet they won’t actually buy them till gas goes over $10/gallon.

In truth, they may know exactly what their doing. I suspect that the Dems really WANT the domestic Auto industry to vanish. Its dirty, it offends the EnviroNazis (who are likely more numerous than UAW members these days), and it is a symbol of American industrial power (which they hate on general priciples). This is the real reason why they replaced Dingell with Waxman—Dingell is pro-Detroit while Waxman wants everything to go zero emissions.

I used to love to come on FR and debate with others the real meaning of conservatism and what best served the public interest. Now I come on and it is very sad. Most of the posting is nothing but a constant pathetic whining about how mean Obama is going to be to everyone.

Look at yourself. Why would you complain that somebody is telling the auto industry no plan, no money. You want to fly around in private planes don’t expect the taxpayer to pay for it.

Stop sniveling and start talking about real issues and real substance,

Spatso, did you read the article? Axelrod demanded the industry to retool. Do you know what that word “retool” means?

"Retool" means little red wagons with a hood. I ALWAYS look for the weight of a car...

Efficient?? Maybe not...

Safe?? Definitely makes a difference.

The original $25b was for the cost of retooling. Is he not asking them that they spend the money to do what they said they were going to do. The money sure is not for private planes.

private planes are a drop in the bucket. can we stop getting sidetracked and just focus on the real issues?

I agree the cost of the planes is insignicant in terms of the total cost of what is involved. But it does tell you something about these guys. President of Toyota makes $1m a year and had a profit of $5b. President of GM makes $15m a year and lost $15b.

I strongly believe that the domestic auto industry needs to be rescued. But, I don’t believe that the three stooges who came to Washington last week should be allowed access to the cookie jar without some very clear guidelines. I don’t trust them and if you do you are making a mistake.

I could easily see a government takeover of the US auto industry much like the Brits did to major industries following WW-II. Imagine the big three automakers being run like the post office.
