Undocumented Immigrants Share Their Stories
KVEO-TV, TX ^ | Nov 20, 2008 | Michelle Macias

Posted on 11/20/2008 9:15:13 PM PST by HollyButler

A man living in the U.S. since he was 10 worked under the impression he was a U.S. citizen. He was arrested and found out he was actually living in this country illegally. He was deported.

Four other undocumented families could also be deported, even though their children are U.S. citizens. These parents are pleading to federal officials to let them remain in this country.

Unfortunately for Brian Cadena, there is no hope. Even though he was only 10 years old when he illegally crossed the border with his mom, there is no law that protects him from deportation. And the mothers of U.S. Citizen children are faced with the tough decision to move their very ill children back to their country where they may not survive.

Cadena says he was full of mixed emotions the day he found out he wasn't a citizen of the United States. He never had problems with the law until he got arrested for the first time. He was put behind bars for domestic violence. But his charges were dismissed for insufficient evidence. But, instead of being freed, he was then detained by federal officials because of his immigration status.

“The judge told me I could go home, but then I came to find out ice was holding me so.”

He never questioned his legal status in the country. He lived in the U.S. for 10 years, not once doubting he was a citizen.

Exactly. And did you catch when they mentioned the parents and children they added the children were sick. Let their own country help them.

I don’t want to split up families - send the whole family with him. He should have thought about his ILLEGAL status before he had the family or brought the family here. Shame on him. GO HOME!

At 10, I was very much aware of the fact that I was a US citizen; that wetbacks weren’t; and that when at 10 we spent 6 weeks in Mexico, that I very much was NOT a Mexican citizen.

Guess edumakashun has gone to hell in the last 50+ years...IF this crimalien has spent 10 years here, presumably graduating high school, including passing Civics class, and Citizenship lessons.

OTOH, the article is worth the laugh just for reading, “He never had problems with the law until he got arrested for the first time.” I do believe that is the case for EVERY criminal!

Not to worry, they’re just “undocumented immigrants”, not illegal aliens or anything bad or lawbreaking like that.

Don’tcha feel better about it now?

How do you get married without a birth certificate? In Wisconsin you need a certified copy. Aren’t all states the same?

I hope they send Obama with him when the Supremes boot his @$$ out for not proving where he was actually born.
Would he take his family with him? You know, the aunt and uncle who have been here illegally for years? Will he go back to Kenya and start running for dictator over there?

So many questions ..so few answers.

I should have added that US Immigration Attorney Jodi Goodwin is part & parcel of the problem. She can take her hopes for the Dream Act to help the crimaliens, and stuff it where the sun don't shine.

She is bering paid by tax money to enforce the law; if she bleeds for the criminal, she needs to get off the public tit, and into defense work. With "allies" like her, we don't need enemies.

exactly, the American children can return when they are grown already, so yep send their butts home. Anyone who leaves their American child who can return when they are grown here while they are being deported should have their parental rights terminated. It is criminal the way they are acting in more ways than one and trying the guilt thing is just not going to work.

I’d forgotten that. We had to have one in California, too. And blood tests.

“These ladies aren’t asking for anything special. They believe their children have the rights like any other U.S. citizen to be treated in their country. All these women want is for the federal government to allow them to remain with their children in the United States as they grow older with these difficult challenges.”

I feel sorry for these kids, and the taxpayers who are financing their health problems. However, these kinds of cases are exactly why we need to put a stop to anchor baby status. The only reason these kids are U.S. citizens is because their moms came here illegally and had them here. When part of the family is illegal and part legal, the law gets characterized as cruel and inhuman. The law probably ought to be no baby is automatically a citizen unless its mother is a citizen. If the mother is here illegally, the child should not get citizenship, nor should the child get citizenship if the mother is legally here but not a citizen.

I think you unpacked this entire issue about as well as could be done. There is no heart, that can be called human, that would not bleed for these children.

They must also realize that the constant attention these children require will have to be paid for by someone, other than themselves. These types of stories hold American’s hostage and manipulate the American taxpayer.

I never hear of any protests against the Mexican Government. It is the mind-boggling hubris of these illegals to protest in America for that which they have no right, that defies any understanding. If there is nothing to protest in Mexico then why would one come here “seeking a better life”?

You know, I would very nearly steady myself and battle for them had they been fighting for those same things they demand from Americans. Yet, they do not and have every appearance of unloading their burdens at the feet of Americans. It is insane to believe that these people breaking the law by thumbing their noses at our sovereignty, is the template for creating an American citizen or a better America. This will only turn America into a larger version of Mexico. I am inclined to doubt ones allegiance when they cut a trail to Mexico when the money runs out.

For decades now, the American people have been conditioned to be suckers for a sad story. Every insidious public policy with which we now grapple has been foisted on us as a way to help a pathetic portion of the population. “It’s for the children” has been a mantra for years. In addition to the helpless children, we have the noble homeless, the dying homosexuals, the abused single mothers, the misunderstood terrorists, and so many more to manipulate us by guilt to give away our hard-earned money, our sovereignty, our self-respect, our right to enjoy the fruits of our labors.

This won’t change until we gut up, refuse to be played and push back on long-term consequences of short-term feel-good legislation. Right now too many conservatives wilt at the label “mean-spirited”. We need a descriptive, pejorative term to apply to the other side who proposes these self-serving, vain policies (for which I hope Freepers can give some suggestions because my mind isn’t working much this morning) that can encapsulate the idiocy the left uses to destroy this nation.

Custody follows the parents.

The children go with the parents.

This is just another amnesty push warm up.

BEWARE THE DREAM ACT AMNESTY PUSH IN JANUARY!

If he was here “innocently” as a minor, the USCIS has in place the 10 year presence rolling amnesty program.

Obviously this person here for 10 years had no evidence to support his petition for a stay of deportation.
