Obama’s Rumored Picks Cheer Up GOP

Little did we know that “Change we can believe in” really meant “Change that will delight the Right and freak out the Left.” But if the rumors and hints about President-elect Barack Obama’s cabinet picks are any clue, it may be that both conservatives and liberals had Barack Obama pegged wrong.

If several months ago someone had said that the Obama administration would be chocked full of Clinton administration retreads and have a national security team featuring the woman who advocated bombing Iran to smithereens in the event it launched a nuclear attack on Israel, few would have believed it. But that’s what seems to be in the offing.

As for the national security team, many conservatives are elated by the prospect that Hillary Clinton — rather than Bill Richardson or John Kerry — will be heading to Foggy Bottom...

Like someone said before........Obama’s mistakes today could take 50 years to repair. I fear for our grandchildren and hope they can weather the storm.

The only reason I like Hillary being involved is because I know she’ll be knifing Hussein in the back every chance she gets.

Other than that, they’re all a bunch of libs, so who cares who he appoints to what? I like that he’s getting the only viable statewide Dem out of AZ for a cabinet appointment, giving a governorship to a Republican. That one gets my seal of approval.

It is indeed a strange world were Hillary Clinton is considered the relative conservative.

Yes, it's going to be a "pass the popcorn and watch the carnage" situation. Entertaining, in a sick way.

He knows it’s going to be tough for her to challange him in ‘12 if he appoints her Sec of State-that’s why he’s floating the rumor. I think Bill wants her to do it because if she is the sec of state he no longer has to behave himself. If she’s going to challange him in ‘12 slick willy knows he needs to be on his best behavior.

Won’t Get Fooled Again

This song is performed by The Who and appears on the album Who’s Next (1971).

We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
‘Cause the banners, they were all flown in the last war

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!

I’ll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

Yeah!

There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
Don’t get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

“...featuring the woman who advocated bombing Iran to smithereens in the event it launched a nuclear attack on Israel...”

This is how ‘The “Mr. I Hate America” President’ will innoculate himself from any public outcry over US military action (including continuation of existing military operations) thereby doing just what he slammed Bush for doing, and getting off without his fingerprints on any of it.

I don’t have any problem with that, per se. What bothers me is that this a$# clown thinks no one will notice that he is carrying out just those military objectives and policies he campaigned against. Nauseating!

It is indeed a strange world were Hillary Clinton is considered the relative conservative.

It is very true that it is kinda strange to think that but I believe that Hillary is closer to John McCain than Barak Obama. Yes she is liberal on social issues but she is hawkish more than Barak certainly not more than John McCain, but still Barak is so far away from the center than it does put Hillary closer to McCain...also in terms of loving the country....Hillary with all her nonsense does love America...John McCain REALLY loves America and Barak Obama IMHO hates America for the most part.

Everyone that Obama has appointed has been a high level Democrat insider.

My only hope is that when the Obama Presidency tanks in the next months, he'll drag down the ruling elite with him, and taint everyone in the Democrat party.

Door #1...

First, it may be that Obama does not care all that much about national security policy and wants to leave it in capable hands while he rushes off to re-enact the domestic New Deal. He will be incurring enough conservative wrath there, so better to leave them pinching themselves with amazed joy on national security policy.

The only reason I can see him taking a hands-off approach on national security is that he knows he can't build the New New Deal on a base of radioactive cinders.

Door #2....

Another theory is that Obama never believed much of anything he was telling the left wingers during the campaign. It was all a carefully devised scheme to capture the nomination. The “cynical” view of Obama’s persona is that he has simply used one ultra-liberal affiliation after another (e.g., Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers’ Annenberg Challenge) to claw his way into power. Now there, he can relax and let his inner, thoroughly conventional and establishment self “loose.”

Which contradicts everything we know about the man. He has never had much of an establishment base within the Democratic Party, yet his roots in the far left and Chicago machine run firm and deep. The establishment embraced him to keep their snouts in the trough. There is no hidden establishment man under the ACORN mask. Everyone he threw under the bus to get elected will be pulled right back out from under the wheels again.

Door #3....

And yet another explanation is that he is entirely a political creature, devoid of well-thought out policy positions. Clinton was selected to get her out of the Senate. Gates will calm the GOP. Rahm Emanuel will keep a lid on Nancy Pelosi. It is all about power — consolidating it and preventing well-formed opposition.

Yep, power. Obama doesn't know what to do with it, but he's been lusting after it. He needs adult supervision to keep him from making a dog's breakfast of everything. Hence the appointment of all these Clinton retreads.

Better if he had gone hard left, because his initial moves are just more con man tactics "anticipate the mark". Had he come in swinging we'd have an easier chance of keeping him from getting established.

All these kleptocrats (Daschle! being an exemplar) coming in along with with him are the disposables. The cohort that gets the guard down seeming as it's same-o politics Americana. It ain't. Read up on how Hitler worked his way inwards, and then went hard. Same re Stalin.

I was hoping the guy wasn't this shrewd and/or patient and/or well-trained.

I believe BO cynically promoted “fairness, spreading the wealth” because the beneficiaries of these policies have more votes than the ones who’ll be hurt.

However, now he will be responsible for the problems these policies would create. I don’t see him wanting to take the heat.
