A Pro-Life Nightmare: Daschle Appointed as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services
Catholic Online ^ | 11/20/08 | Randy Sly

It wasn’t that many years ago that Tom Daschle was the pro-life movement’s worst congressional nightmare. Over the years, as a Senator and Senate Minority Leader, he constantly supported pro-choice legislation and initiatives.

In 1997, for example, Daschle proposed what he called a "compromise" regarding partial-birth abortion, banning the procedure while allowing exemptions for any woman who claimed mental or physical health reasons for having such a late-term procedure. Most saw this tactic as a smokescreen to guarantee the option to abort children by this grisly procedure akin to infanticide.

Describing himself as a Catholic, in 2003 the 61 year-old senator from South Dakota received a letter from Bishop Robert Carlson, the bishop of the Diocese of Sioux Falls, instructing the legislator to stop referring to himself in that manner.

The appointment of Tom Daschle places a strong "pro-choice" leader at the helm of the agency that would oversee the possible Freedom of Choice Act.

Describing himself as a Catholic

Yeah, a murderer (or at best a murder supporter) can call himself a "Catholic" like I can call myself The Pope.

Think about it. A guy supporting infanticide is head of a health department. How sick and demented is this world?

Well if they called it the “murder department” then people would call for it to be disbanded.

Elections have consequences. I could twist that statement to make it fit the pro-life nature of this article, but I’m not so sure it would be acceptable by the masses. Think stereotypical Japanese on the first word.

Elections have consequences. Therefor, if the Catholic Church really was serious they would banned communion from all elected officials who vote for abortions. Then they would have persuaded their parishioners to vote for the fakeroo faction of the corrupt “Two-Party Cartel” instead of the one that elected a guy w/o a valid birth certificate.

unforunatly not surprising given the 0 thinks partial birth abortion doesn’t go far enough and advocates post birth “abortion” AKA leaving born children in a bin to die

Oh, but Obama “hates” abortions and would like to see an America in which there are no abortions.

I’ve heard him say it wonder how many were idiot enough to believe it.

This is going to be beyond belief. The MSM will not even be able to make it look good. They still think we are going to be in Utopian heaven next year.

So, who did they think Obama would appoint?

IMO, the Catholic Church has bigger problems right now. Such as the fact its members voted in majority for Obama when this is supposedly the most pressing issue in the church.

Not that I think they should have chosen McCain. Abstaining would have worked. Anstaining or holding your nose for McCain depending on where your conscience led you on that one. But they chose Obama. The church has a problem.

Does “Puff” Daschle’s appointment come with a step stool so that he won’t look like a “little person” (don’t know if midget is PC) when he has his pic taken with DEAR LEADER?

Liberals are killing there own. We should just let them and stop trying to stop them

Besides the fact is ww can’t.

I think I read in Obama’s FOCO plan or whatwver his pllan is callwd there is a part that states a person CANNOT refuse an abortion.

The country has elected the very meaning of evil.
