"I'm 28 years old, and I am about to die."
I was curled up behind the wheel of an airplane on a jungle airstrip in Guyana, South America. This isn't what I expected when I signed on to work for a United States congressman. Our fact-finding trip to investigate the Peoples Temple in Jonestown had gone horribly wrong. I lay as still as I could, pretending to be dead, as an unknown gunman pumped five bullets into me at close range. Pop-pop. Pop. Pop-pop.
When the shooting stopped, I looked around and saw bodies, including that of my boss and mentor, Congressman Leo Ryan. Was he, too, pretending to be dead? I called his name, but he didn't respond. Looking down, I saw what appeared to be a bone. It was my own, and it was sticking out of my shattered right arm.

I’m sorry that the lady had to go through it, but her ideology and voting record today scarcely differs from that of the monster that had her boss assassinated and nearly killed her. You’d think she’d have learned something.

Yep. You'd think she would learn from her ordeal. Once Jones got all those people following him, the first thing he did was burn their Bibles and he became their Messiah. They still followed him anyway. He was their Oboma.

Sadly, you’re 100% correct about the congressperson. I did a paper on Jim Jones in college, what he preached was a Socialist/Collectivist Utopia. I’m not sure what you would call it - Revivalist/Communism or Charismatic Communism is best as I can categorize it.
Yeah, "politically well-connected" with the DEMOCRATS -- journalists always like to leave that one out. Jones met with the Carters, dined privately with Rosalyn, counted several Democrat Congressmen as friends and allies, etc.
They never like to let people know that Jim Jones was a leftist, and far more of a secular Demagogue than anything else -- he merely used a gloss of religion as a means of social control. He called the slaughter a "revolutionary suicide"......
I didn’t like Leo Ryan much, but he died for his country, saving people’s lives, and I honor him for that...Godspeed, Congressman Ryan, RIP

The State Dept under Carter....more deaths on their heads - and now some from his administration are back advising Obama.
There is a slight difference between Jim Jones and the average Dem.
The day of horror was when Jackie Speier was elected to congress and now she is discussing her own abortion in order to stop Congress from cutting off funds to Planned Barrenhood.
A majority of California’s delegation should be aborted.
