Obama's welcome assault on the NRA and gun lovers (Mindset of the left!)
Kansas City Star ^ | 11/12/2008 | Yael T. Abouhalkah

Gun lovers across America are concerned that Barack Obama's administration will take on the National Rifle Association and impose stiffer gun laws. Let's hope so.

Shop owners are reporting an upsurge in sale since Obama's election last Tuesday. Why?

Because many people fear that Obama and a Democratic-controlled Congress will try to stop them from buying assault rifles -- as if there's any reason in the world for a citizen to own such a thing.

And some Americans are worried that Congress will take away their rights to own three, four or more guns -- as if any American family truly needs that much firepower in their home.

When the government and police have that kind of firepower to use against me, fair’s fair.

...wow.

Freedom means the ability to be left the hell alone. If I want to dedicate an entire room of my house to storing firearms I damn well can and will. Whether I “need” to is not a question or concern of anyone else on earth, and this asshat should get that through his thick skull of mush.

Who the hell is Yael T. Abouhalkah, and why does he think he has the right to decide what kind and how many guns I can own?

Wow, I can see the Kansas City Stars point! Why would anyone need three or four guns?

For that matter, we should limit the number of Barbie Dolls each child should be able to own. Why should any girl need three or four?

Or maybe we should limit how many cars each family should own. I know people with four cars. They should get by with only two. I know people who own five TV sets. That's ridiculous. Congress should limit every household to exactly 2 TV sets.

Because really, Congress and Big Government knows exactly how many of each and every item each citizen should really be allowed to have.

People like Yael T. Abouhalkah are the reason we will never have enough guns.

“...fear that Obama and a Democratic-controlled Congress will try to stop them from buying assault rifles — as if there's any reason in the world for a citizen to own such a thing.”

Those “such things” are precisely the type of arms the second amendment was written to protect, dipsh!t!

Now for extra credit: Can you guess why???

Yael - it’s not up to you or anyone else to determine the “reason” that anyone should “need” any weapon they individually deem necessary to defend themselves.

The 2nd amendment is an individual right. Your god said so.

We really need to start licensing reporters. Just some common sense restrictions on the 1st Amendment is all I ask for. Let’s face it, the news media is far more damaging to this country as a whole then the few random nutjobs with guns out of the many millions of law-abiding firearm owners.

More to the point -

the first amendment guarantees freedom of speech, press, and information in general.

The 2nd guarantees the INDIVIDUAL right to keep and bear arms.

He might as well be saying that there should be a reasonable limit on the number and type of books you can own and carry.

Well, I PARTIALLY agree with the author.

DEMOCRATS definitely should be banned from gun ownership - that includes Senator Feinstein.

Republicans and independents should be allowed to own as manuy and whatever kind they wish.

“And some Americans are worried that Congress will take away their rights to own three, four or more guns — as if any American family truly needs that much firepower in their home.”

Nonsense. Just a revolver, bolt-action centerfire rifle, shotgun and muzzleloader put you at four, and that’s only a minimum setup for ONE person. Personally, I can make good use of a .44 Mag revolver, 9mm autoloader, .40 S&W autoloader, .22 pistol, .22 rifle, .22 magnum rifle, several centerfire bolt actions, muzzleloaders, two or more shotguns, and an AR-type rifle or two. Plus, I need backups for everything, so that’s twice as many. ;-)

That’s only for me, not counting wife and kids.

This writer is clueless.

"-- as if there's any reason in the world for a citizen to own such a thing."

" -- as if any American family truly needs that much firepower in their home."

And people don't NEED 150 thousand dollar sports cars. Or plasma TV sets. Or 500 watt stereo systems. Or homes with 4 or 5 bathrooms. Where will it all end??

Besides, it is a CONSTITUTIONAL right to own firearms for any legal reason. Such as self-defense, gun collections, or simply as wall hangers or door stops.

How would you like a seven day waiting period before your stupid articles are allowed to be printed? Or only allow you to print articles with less figherpower?

Say we eliminate your right to use the letters A, E, I, O, or U when writing?

as if there is any reason for a person in the world to own...

an suv?
a house bigger than 1000 square feet?
more than one car?
a car nicer than your neighbor?

The PROPERTY of one’s individual rights is just as important as the PROPERTY of one’s realty.

ALL these laws must now pass a strict scrutiny test.
