Yesterday I asked you on the air what is wrong with this statement from Valerie Jarrett, the co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team:
There is one president at a time. President Bush is still the president. He's graciously invited President-elect Obama to the White House tomorrow to begin their conversations of the transition. So we respect that. He will be the president until January 20th. However, giving--given, really, the daunting challenges that we face, it's important that President-elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one. So we will be working closely with his administration. We're reviewing the agencies now. He will be making key personnel decisions. He gets national security briefings every day now as well, but he will not be the president until January 20th.
It didn't take long for the listeners to get this yesterday. Presidents govern. They manage. They lead. They don't RULE. China, North Korea, Venezuela, and most countries in Africa have "rulers." We don't. This is a hint at the mindset of the Obama crowd. The people of the United States have elected a "ruler," not a leader. A ruler with a penchant for nifty little emblems on his speaking podiums, by the way ....

And since when did we have an official “Office of the President Elect” too? This all seems to be going to his head all to quickly.
“Rule” will soon morph into “reign”.
For the first time in my life, I am afraid for my country.

On second thought, it’s totally believable.
fwiw, She’s the daughter-in-law of a man revered by Chicago communists, Vernon Jarrett. These individuals and the groups they associate with are very used to ruling. They certainly do a dismal job of governing.
The word “rule” really bothered me yesterday. Thanks for the post.
My daughter (aged 15) said she was going to live in the woods if Obama won. I have finally been able to talk her out of this notion. Please don’t anyone tell her about this “ruler” thing or she will be collecting more camping equipment.
