ST. LOUIS -- For many people outside of the political world Rahm Emanuel is not a household name, but that is about to change as President-elect Barack Obama has tapped him to be his White House chief of staff.
“Rahm is exactly the right person at the right time for that job” said John Lapp who served as executive director under Emanuel in his role as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, (DCCC).
“What people don’t understand about him is, yes he is a great political strategist and statistician, but he is also a thoughtful policy wonk” said Lapp, “those are not words that you hear to describe Rahm, but that is who he is.”
Lapp says that Emanuel took this job is because he wants to see something big get done. “This is a unique time in our history, Rahm considers President elect Obama not just a friend but a brother, as well as David Axelrod who created the Obama campaign. So this is family.”
President elect Barack Obama does need an enforcer, with Emanuel he has that, he was not called “Rhambo” in and around the halls of the capitol for his shy demeanor.
“Emmanuel is a human freight train, with all that the metaphor implies” said University of Virginia political science professor Larry Sabato, “he has incredible energy and stamina, plus invaluable top-level experience in both the executive and legislative branches.”

Rahm is a DLCer disliked by the DU kooks. Obama seems smart enough to know that letting the crazies run the show would only give the Repubs a shot in ‘10.

Isn’t it funny that the muslims and palestinians gave so much campaign cash to obama. The hamas supported him and the plo supported him, Iran supported him...then the first thing, he picks a Jewish guy..former israeli mosad like Emmanuel...
I don’t think this obama can live up to his promises, not this term and not in ten terms...it will be a sight to watch him accomplish nothing...except raise taxes and diminish the rights of hardworking Americans...and water down our Constitution until we are no better different then say Kenya...and he’ll pour billions into the ratholes of Africa which will do absolutely nothing to improve poor people’s lives there...
Obama’s main goal is to make a lot of money for himself and his cronies...that’s it...Chicago style...
He picked Emmanuel because he himself is totally inexperienced and he wants to play hardball...let’s see him get tough with Israel now, what will all his Arab backers think when he breaks his promise to them...he better not mess with the Israelis...what would his Chief of Staff think?

Dick Morris didn’t have any good words for him in an interview on O’Reilly.
He said the only thing he cares about is himself and his image. He gave an example of where he leaked information to the press during the Clinton administration to get in good with a certain reporter.
