Saul Alinsky Takes the White House
American Spectator ^ | 11.6.08 | Quin Hillyer

Posted on 11/06/2008 1:30:59 PM PST by Mount Athos

Conservatives may not realize just how difficult it might be to recover from this week's elections.

... These New Alinskyites who are taking over the White House, combined with the most leftist congressional leadership in memory, will not let us play by the same rules under which conservatives recovered from those earlier debacles. They will try to drastically tilt the playing field, seed our side of the field with land mines and, in short, rig the process to make it next to impossible for the political right, or Republicans, to recover.

Watch for an assault on the filibuster itself. Watch how they use as precedent the GOP "nuclear/constitutional option" on judges in 2005 -- except instead of just using it for judges, watch them use it against all filibusters.

Watch a cheerleading establishment media -- the Fourth Estate as a veritable Fifth Column -- actually back these lefty maneuvers. [...]

Watch what Michael Barone called the Obama "thugocracy" use the Justice Department to stifle dissent.

Other ways the Obama axis will tilt the playing field: "card check" legislation to eliminate secret ballots in unionizing and to force union victories in contract negotiations. Provision after provision giving favors to the trial bar so it can sue enemies into submission. Copious new regulations, especially environmental, to be used selectively to ensnare other conservative malcontents.

What Ohio officials did in rifling through so many of Joe Wurzelbacher's files will serve as ample precedent.

These are the sorts of things Alinskyites do. These are the sorts of tactics used by ACORN, at whose conferences Obama himself regularly taught seminars on "power." These are the sorts of policies favored by the academic left, Obama's old milieu -- the policies that favor speech codes and stolen campus newspapers and the firing of faculty for "offensive" remarks.

My wife just got an e-mail from the head of HR saying that the post-election Obama jokes have to stop, especially if there is any hint that it might be related to racism. No notice before the election. And it was OK to get anti-Bush e-mails for 8 years. Oh yeah, she works for a bank that is hoping for a piece of the bailout action.....

It is here already.

They can’t play without our money. Yes, we may have to suffer as the economy gets much worse and they have a drastic downturn in tax revenues, but that is the sacrifice we will make for bringing this country literally to its knees.

Michael Barone’s pre-election articles were very good and also represented the realistic fears many productive Americans have right now...this is no VRWC thing. This could be a really ugly situation. I view Michael Barone as a very sharp and very reasonable guy when it comes to politics, and these articles coming from him as opposed to more firebrand partisans is something to take seriously.

Secondly, we need to get campaign chiefs that understand these types of hard-core political tactics and go right back at them. We lose when we are bi-partisan. We win when we fight.

Perhaps we found that Constitutional coup loophole that logician Kurt Gödel noticed while studying for his citizenship.

from wikipedia...

Einstein and Morgenstern coached Gödel for his U.S. citizenship exam, concerned that their friend's unpredictable behavior might jeopardize his chances. When the Nazi regime was briefly mentioned, Gödel informed the presiding judge that he had discovered a way in which a dictatorship could be legally installed in the United States, through a logical contradiction in the U.S. Constitution. Neither the judge, nor Einstein or Morgenstern allowed Gödel to finish his line of thought and he was awarded citizenship.

Oh yes, some of us do realise. This wasn’t the usual political spin of the wheel-R, then D, then R, then D. This is a new game. We’ve already been up against what Thatcher called the “ratchet effect”-everytime the left gets into power, they steer the country left. When the right returns to power, they try to correct course, but they never steer us back as far as the left has steered us right. So over time, we have been incrementally turned to the left, without recovering ground, much less making a right turn. And now with the Alinsky students and liberation theology and “spread the wealth” crew in charge, we are full steam ahead for socialism. They never denied it, like they usually find necessary-they know that the time is ripe now, after all the decades of gently leading the people to accept it, under various guises. They don’t even have to hide it anymore, they can press ahead.

wow.

We had just had a discussion on the fairness doctrine yesterday. She really did not believe that it would be "invoked". When she read the e-mail to me over the phone this afternoon, she ended by saying, "I guess the fairness doctrine is next."

“We have our own rules we are going to play by and it aint going to be pretty for the lefties.”

Oh yeah? And just what might those rules be, and just how is not going to be pretty?

Tell me, are you going to be leading the fight? If not, then who?

One small consolation-I can’t wait to see the MSM start squawking when their ox starts getting gored.

Then let the country become a socialist cesspool. Only when we are on the verge of destruction will a new American Revolution begin.

I don’t see dems toying with the filibuster, they realize they could find themselves in the minority very quickly, just like we did in 2006. They also know that mid terms usually mean gains for the current minority party. But, if they are dumb enough to tinker with the filibuster I believe that in itself would push millions of Independents, Reagan dems and libertarians into the Repubs’ corner very quickly.

Just wait until gun regulations are tightened, and then guns are banned, if not outright, then in everything but name.

I’ve had the idea for a cartoon in my head about this pendulum effect of going right and left as is normal in politics.

The cartoon has an old grandfather clock with the pendulum punched through on the left side of the casement with wood splinters everywhere. Not sure if the clock would need to have springs and gears popping out of the face of the clock. Perhaps in another year or two. :(
