Mayor Nutter will announce drastic new steps today to close a $1 billion gap in the city's five-year budget, including the closure of 11 of 54 branch libraries and dozens of city pools, a freeze on tax reductions, reduced hours or programs at more than a dozen recreation centers, and fewer engines at some firehouses, according to sources familiar with his plans.

I am growing a ping list for news of Metro Philly/Delaware Valley area; Anybody that wants to be on or off the list please let me know via e-mail or just reply to this post.
These people will never learn. They will have to endure the closing of rec centers, the laying off of police and fire personnel, rising wage taxes and municipal service fees.
All that being said, I have not one ounce of sympathy for the residents of Philly or NY. They elect these people over and over, they elect the same types of people for President, Senator and Congress. Suffer in your self-made misery. I have enough misery in NJ without worrying about the decline of Phila. to a second rate, has-been city.

Nah. We're on 5th rate. By the way, I am already seeing attitude from Bambi's constituents.
Lock and load!
I'm just sitting back and watching them kill each other.
where are you in Philly?
Overcoming my paranoia, I can say deep South Philly east of Broad 4 nights a week and Manayunk the rest. (long story) Too old to really enjoy Manayunk. If you're under 30, it's babe heaven.
well at least you are in the 48 zip code, best part of town (mostly)

Us folks from the NYC area make fun of Philly for a reason. It was a great place 200 years ago.
Clemenza: “Leave the gun...take the canolis.”
I could take being the butt of your jokes. You're one of the few around here who know what the hell you're talking about. Why don't you find a permanent residence and run for office.
LOL! Have moved every two years for the past 14. Will likely be moving AGAIN in February. I go where “they” need me. :)
Won't ask, won't have to tell me. Won't have to .... ..
