IT'S TIME FOR A LITTLE PALIN COMPARISON (CINDY ON SARAH)
The New York Post ^ | 10/31/08 | Cindy Adams

OK, so you know the hot mask this Halloween is Sarah Palin. What you don't know is, the Wasilla Wow is poised to make large money. Book offers for her view of what happened or didn't happen and how they blew it/ how they didn't blow it/ how she sees America/ Alaska/ McCain/ Barack/ baby Trig/ the price of jackets/ whatever. Agents are also poised to dangle $30,000 - give or take a few bucks - for a lecture. And said approximate fee is for "them." In other words, if she can't make it, they'll take the First Dude.

She's so hot that Ron Smith, who created the Celebrity Look-Alikes, tonight launches a Sarah Palin look-alike open casting call. Doubletree Hotel, 9 p.m., in the national capital area of Bethesda, Md. No masks. The person must resemble her. The search will widen to LA, then NYC, and the number to call to register is 301-654-2396. He says: "She's the most requested political look-alike in the history of this faux business. She tops Bill, Hillary, Bush, Reagan, even Monica."

The rest:

Whatever happens, her future will keep her in eyeglasses a long time. Like they now say, 60 is the new 40? Well, Sarah is the new Hillary. The right wing will start positioning her for down the line. And does she know it? You betcha.

Meantime, that already skinny frame has lost weight. Campaign plane eats are crappy. Snack bars, crackers. Her kids bring their own food. Days go 7 a.m. to midnight, bags picked up 8 a.m. Get on a plane, each trip between one and four hours, then a motorcade, then back for the next run. No time to change. No first class. It's total crunch.

She has a photographic memory. Her head is down in the position papers, she blinks twice, never looks up, turns the page, reads some more. Reads, reads, reads. The kids adore her. She's happiest when they're along. Little Piper even has her own fan base and signs autographs. But, on the plane, if one hugs her, she puts her hands up to touch them, never takes eyes off the paper, just keeps reading.

The only time she relaxes is in the car with her family. The shoulders then slump a little, she doesn't seem happy, but, ever a good soldier, she turns it on for the crowds.

Yes, she's gone off the reservation, she feels "trapped," she hates swallowing her own freewheeling thoughts. Her speeches are read and approved by 17 people. She is surrounded by minders whose lot is to control her. She doesn't speak freely. She hunkers down with the only three who make her feel comfortable - Kris Perry, who ran her gubernatorial run, Penny Owen, her Alaska friend from high school who helps with the children, and the Husband.

***

Nice piece by Cindy -- sort of fits in with Greta's interview last night. Good to know that Sarah's not only got a political future, she also has a financial one.

I'm seeing high school kids, supermarket cashiers...with Palin hairstyles.

Imitation is the greatest compliment you can give a person.

Unless.....it's an annoying kid who repeats everything you're saying...until he/she gets sent to their room.

Forget the negative trash they have written about our Sarah. The simple truth is far brighter than any of the foul lies they have tried to smear here with.

She still draws MEGA crowds, no TELE-PROMPTER, notes or queue cards. She has a loving family who are with here everywhere and she speaks with a power and a conviction that cannot be matched by any of the other 3 major candidates.

Sarah is 100% the America we all love and I know that more Americans love her than the air head, empty suit O.

We have a local news reader wearing Palin eye glasses - she never wore glasses before Sarah. :-)

McCain’s handlers screwed her up from the start. She is making a nice recovery...but Bush’s old people and Romney’s team really sandbagged her.

Bastards. Just let Sarah be Sarah.

17 people going over her words that she is allowed to say? Give me a break.

She’s always had a great future - even before her selection for this ticket.

I saw a woman on the bus, a blonde in her 50s. She was very high end. Her (naturally blond) hair had been colored at great cost. She had a bag the quality of whose leather it was impossible to overlook. It had gold tone zippers and other hardware. I couldn’t tell what brand it was, but it was gorgeous. Her nails were done. Her jacket had some deliberately frayed seams. She opened the bag and took out a sunglasses case - D&G. She had her hair pinned in the back to create that slight bouffant look behind her bangs. Although she had on nice black jeans and that great black jacket on over a black cashmere sweater, on her feet, she had on powder blue, look-at-me PUMA sneakers. This woman was sending a message loud and clear. I wanted to applaud. I hope the PUMAs deliver for Gov. Palin.

You’re right. The unintended upside is that the base is more loyal to her than ever.

She’s not a natural #2, but she was sucking it up and being a good and appreciative soldier—until the professional bunglers had really screwed things up.

“She’s always had a great future - even before her selection for this ticket.”

You betcha. In her next campaign (hopefully after serving as VP) she’ll be captain of her own ship, and completely free to take ALL her advice, cues and direction from the only source that Sarah has ever needed: the Advisor and “Handler” Who has brought her this far already.

My only concern has been the “restrictions” placed on a Pres. and VP.

Sarah is a free thinker and free speaker, so I’m sure it can be somewhat frustrating to be limited. But she is doing a remarkable job of it all and is the main reason this election is winnable for the GOP.
