Actually, a few years back we had planned on moving to Savannah or into South Carolina. Unfortunately, my daughter had a child and the wife doesn’t want to move that far away from here. I love the GA/SC area.

Plan on taking the day off on Nov 5. Whether Obama wins or loses, things will be exciting in Detroit from late Nov 4 through Nov 5.

You betcha

The animals have taken over the Farm:

Corporatism = Collectivism = Communism

or, for the more dialectically traditional - from Left to Right:

Communism = Collectivism = Corporatism.

And remember Comrades, NO SLEEPING IN BEDS {edit} err, WIF SHEETS!

Got milk and apples?

Sorry, you can’t fire someone for any arbitrary reason. And certainly not on the basis of political discrimination. That’s not right.

As I was in the rain room ( shower) this morning and mumbling to myself on the situation we may face if the DemocRATS win the WH, Senate and House, and if they get away with putting all the socialistic dreams into place, and the idiots who vote for them become the first to scream the loudest while we shake our heads, what is the possibility that a subtle ground swell will begin and we will see another American Revolution but not against Red Coats ( British) but against our own Govenrnment? What a frightening thought that presents..neighbor against neighbor and family member against family member..
Why do people think that blood in our own streets is an impossibility? It is a horrible thought that I hope never comes to pass. However, for Americans to think that such a terrible thing could not happen in our nation as has in other countries is naive. It is too depressing!

If I have a private business, I should be able to hire and fire at will. Period.

oh dear lisa! I am so sorry to hear this but it sounds like it was a crappy work situation. Seems like you have some good advice here from others to consider

and my only thought is that now you have a golden chance to completely trust God with your future - (and did a little bird tell me that it is possibly a “Tat” reconnection? that would be great as I know you both care deeply.)

This is a really sad commentary on the low life’s that many too many O supporters are. May they all get flat tires in the pouring rain on election day on the way to vote! (and AAA never makes it)

Keep us posted - BTW good to see you back!

Lisa...I read the entire thread, and my heartaches for you...I have been there and done that...but I learned from it all. I just want to share the following:

About 24 years ago, I was working as a legal secretary (going to college at night to become a paralegal--to not just be a clerical worker). I had my first child, took my 6 week maternity leave and went back to work. I was nursing. I checked w/HR and was told I could certainly take 2 breaks (morning and afternoon) in lieu of leaving the office and taking a one hour lunch break. I offered to eat at my desk (partioned off area) so that none of my co-workers would feel slighted by my breaks. The building (being uber PC) was already 'smoke free' so the smokers got to take breaks (to outside the building to smoke) at any time...so I felt my pumping schedule kept in tune w/their policy. The expressed breast milk was in a baby bottle, in a zipped up bottle holder case, in another zippered lunchbag in my area of the office fridge. No one would have ever possibly known it was in there. I took my breaks in our private ladies room (which had a couch, where I sat and discretly used my pump). Only about four women used the bathroom (and one was an alcoholic who used to nap there when she had too much). To the best of my knowledge none of the women had any issue with this.

My problem became some of the juvenile middle aged men I worked with. I had a couple of snide remarks along the lines of motherhood had really filled me out...and you get the picture. I was embarassed, but very young and needed the job (I had our health insurance). The little remarks (and this was legal environment) started to really bug me...but I didn't know how to handle 'it.' I was horrified one day when, I came to my desk to find a local dairy's baseball cap on my chair. It was thought to be quite funny...but I was humiliated. Stupidly, rather than get an outside lawyer and go to HR I resigned. Dumbest thing I ever did. But boy did I learn from it...

The loss of that job really did a number on me professionally, because I stupidly got into a downward spiral of retail work (my college courses got put on hold...as I could not afford the tuition). I learned to not become friends, or debate partners with my co-workers. I stay on task and I don't talk much. I smile, I am pleasant...but uber professional. I don't kid around; or really interact much...I just work.

About 8 years ago or so I was midmanagement in a retail environment. During a store inventory...I was kneeling down verifying a count on a low shelf, my immediate, male 'leering' supervisor made a comment about me coloring my hair (he was standing over me) and made a 'joke' about carpeting not matching drapes. I bit my tongue...and one of the other employees said...'well now she's pi$$ed.' I did not address the issue at that moment. That night I went home, took a couple hours and drafted a letter (using buzz words of sexual harassment; innuendo; hostile work environment, etc., to his supervisor describing what had occurred. I then mailed the letter (certified, return receipt requested). I had an additional copy of the letter in the mailing, and a signature line for both my supervisor and his supervisor to sign and send back to me in the envelop that I had also enclosed, to use as proof that they had infact addressed the issue. I asked thay my signed copies be sent back to me within 72 hours of their receipt (verified by the certified mail recpt.) and that 'their' copy of same be placed in my personnel file--for me to inspect at anytime. I did learn something in paralegal studies...document, document, document. I also explained, in the letter, that I did NOT wish to HAVE to persue the matter further, that I was certain that it would be handled in a professional manner; that none of my co-workers would be made aware of the letter (any reference or acknowledgment would be interpretted by me as an escalation of the 'hostile environment' and would be a breach of personnel records). I would NOT address the matter in person without written notification so that I could obtain legal representation...yada yada yada. On my next encounter with that particular manager he was afraid to make eye contact with me. He changed his demeanor (to me and the other women bigtime.)

I have a different employer now, a small family owned business. I still am professional, and somewhat impersonal. The owner's wife is a raving left wing loon...she trully sees the 0bama as the Messiah. I know she has offended people in our building...but whatever...I won't 'engage' with her. I smile...I say I don't really like to discuss politics (whilst thinking...oh, honey that's why I post on the internet!!!). Ultimately, I have found two things...first...stay above the fray...don't become involved...unless politics in the business (which is makes me mad for you Lisa...as the 0bama channel became part of your workplace...errrrr!!!). And secondly, if they do engage, insult, slur, change hours, etc., document!

FWIW...I FReep from my phone when not busy at work; and I listen to Rush on a small radio with presets...(I would not leave a 'trail' and stream live or post from their computers). I can change channels to National Public Radio (I do like their music) in a nano-second...

Best wishes to you Lisa...please keep us updated!

My advice would be keep your mouth shut until you find another job, then give your 2 weeks notice and enjoy that time to blast every Obama supporter at work and make their lives a living hell.

I too had an intolerable workplace environment (due not to party politics, but rather to the old boy network, and my propensity for actually reading development regulations, applying engineering principles, and asking pointed questions of developers and their engineers).

When I was passed over for promotion to head of the dept. (I had 8 yrs as the #2 (and go-to) guy), I focused the anger into finding another job. Took about 2 months.

The 2 weeks' notice came as a surprise to a lot of folks.

It was a good job from the perspective of practicing engineering towards the goals of increasing the tax base while protecting the taxpayer's interest, but the end-runs by a few crybabies (which I came out on top of) were very frustrating, and I haven't looked back.

Thanks for the ping back.

BTW, This whole idea of political correctness has its roots based in an ideoligy that tranceneds rational thought.

Your Son, at 18 no less, brought this up to you to take for action. I’m surprised that some “Lawyer” did’nt see enough dollar signs in his eyes, to at least to help you out.

You’re a good parent, You did what you could. Because you raised your kid well enough to know truth from stupidity, now all of the sudden Your kids gotta suffer?. No.

I admire you, based oupon what I’ve heard thus far, from your post, You kick a$$. I admire you for just for being a good mom alone.

You may have lost one battle, but be best assured that there is a place in history for folks like us that stick to our principals. good luck my FRiend.

Go to your state’s Job Service office - and file a wrongful termination action against the employer for allowing a hostile work environment.

Yeah, that will work. /sarc

The director of that department is the one who ordered the records checks on Joe the Plumber.
