John McCain has been a better candidate than Republicans deserve.
As readers have guessed by now, I am a contrarian conservative. Whilst the fair-weathered friends blow the way of the opposition party this year adieu, adieu I have come to admire McCain.
Oh, I will never forget or forgive McCain-Feingold. But Republicans including President Bush made it the law of the land.
In a Democratic year, against a rock star, and against the most massive war chest in political history, McCain has done an extraordinary job as a candidate, which indicates he may be a better president than I thought. I still have no clue why he is running, but I know why his opponent is running and that is enough to send
McCain was my fourth choice for the nomination.
But I now see the wisdom of that choice.
Here is what he has done right:

I agree, he was not ever my choice, but I recall many months ago people saying, no way, no how would we ever win this race. McCain is going to pull it out—there I said it!
Why is that a good thing?
“Oh, I will never forget or forgive McCain-Feingold. But Republicans including President Bush made it the law of the land.”
McCain is a stubborn man, but if this election proves anything, it’s that McCain-Feingold was a flaming turd. The critics were right - the money always will be there.
I agree with the point about Bush. He should have vetoed the piece of garbage, considering that, unlike McCain, he didn’t even believe in it.
Actually, McCain was my choice, even last election cycle, but I am not that political, however, I see through people, the first time I laid eyes on Obama I knew he was trouble, to put it lightly.
McCain cannot win this election; but McCain/Palin can and will win this election.
John Sidney McCain III is a hero, a decent man, a fighter, and I pray he is our next president.
Picking Sarah Palin.

I think McCain signaled that it would not be the old school politics as usual in his campaign...
He neither picked someone whom he “owed” something to...
Nor someone who thought they deserved the VP pick...
Nor did he just pick a fellow candidate, just incase so-called “party unity” might result...
McCain prayerfully chose the one God wanted in that slot...
If we dont put McCain in the White House much of the blame will not be McCain’s...
I think you are right, even though some people are ready to say everthing that has gone wrong is her fault,
what planet am I on?
Yep, you can sum up McCain’s campaign in one word. PALIN.
Having said all of that, it does not suffice to say "McCain sucks, but the other guy sucks more". That does not begin to describe the situation. The "other guy" represents complete and total victory for people who I do not regard as "loyal opposition", but as direct enemies of a free society.
I did something which I said I would not do 6 or 8 months ago-- I voted for McCain.
I don't agree that he has run a good campaign and I don't know if he will win on Tuesday. I just know I would never play a role-- either actively or passively-- which would help the socialist win. If the socialist does win, he will not be my President. I will oppose everything he tries to do as much as I possibly can. IF McCain wins, I will oppose him as well when he is wrong, which may be quite often based on past actions.
You know I can sense some tension between Sarah and John.
I read it. It’s not relevant to my question.
I will oppose everything he tries to do as much as I possibly can.
Me too, I have never felt so passionately about any situation in my life ,
It might no be pretty, but it will be worth watching.
As for me, I hope McCain wins mostly because I look forward to PALIN FOR PRESIDENT--2012 (IF NOT BEFORE).
Reagan at the same age destroyed Walter Mondale with this bon mot....
“I promise not to hold my opponent’s youth and inexperience against him.”
Age is nothing but a number. Frank Lloyd Wright did his best buildings in his 80’s. George Burns sold out theaters in his 90’s. Vl;adimir Horowitz reeled off the Rach Third like a twenty-year-old when he was 82, Verdi wrote his greatest masterpieces, “Fallstaff” and “Otello” when he was 80.
Aaliyah was right. Age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
Trouble is an understatement.
