What gets me is how this kind of attack makes the light of day. It ought to be laughed to scorn.
How is it selfish to want to keep what one has earned, and not selfish to want something that belongs to someone else? The populist plea that Obama is making is depending on the selfishness of masses. If you can convince enough people that you will give them a lot of money, if you get elected, those most likely to get that money will vote for you in droves. That’s not selfish?
Those who are not selfish should volunteer to pay more taxes first. I volunteer Obama and Biden to be the first to do so and pay as high as 100% in taxes. Then I will vote for them.

Which would fit with this description of those who want to keep their hard-earned tax dollars as "selfish."
