10.27.08 Video: John McCain Talks To CBS 4 - Miami, Ft. Lauderdale
- - All eyes are on Florida as a key state to win the 2008 presidential election, and because of this both candidates are doing heavy campaigning throughout the state, and addressing problems that affect our state in particular. John McCain talked with CBS4's Antonio Mora, in a one-on-one interview about what his plans are for the economy. And he addressed a not so flattering record that Florida has broken this month. We now rank number two in the nation when it comes to foreclosures. Nevada ranks number one.

10.27.08 News Herald: Poll shows Obama with slight Florida lead - - A newly released poll for a Miami television station shows Democratic Sen. Barack Obama with a slight lead over Republican challenger John McCain. Florida has 27 electoral votes, 10 percent of the electoral votes needed to win the presidency, and both candidates have been campaigning throughout the state, with a particular focus on the so-called "Interstate 4 corridor" from Daytona Beach to Tampa, where many swing voters are thought to live. The poll of 600 likely voters statewide was conducted Oct. 23-26 by Suffolk University for WSVN-TV in Miami. The results were Barack Obama 49 percent, John McCain 44 percent. The poll found that Obama had a 46 to 45 percent margin over McCain among those who said they were very likely to vote, but Obama had a 60 to 40 margin among those who said they have already cast an early or absentee ballot. A Suffolk poll conducted in late September showed Obama with a 46 percent to 42 percent lead overall. Sampling error margin plus or minus 4 percentage points, larger for subgroups.

10.27.08 Miami Herald: With Florida gleaming as the grand prize of the 2008 campaign, Democratic vice presidential contender Joe Biden will hunker down in the state for three of the last nine days of the race, beginning Monday. Meanwhile, Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, a constant presence in Florida in the past few weeks, will campaign for McCain today in Tampa and Orlando. The GOP is trying to use the Democrat-turned-independent to peel off moderate supporters and strengthen McCain’s appeal in the Jewish community.

Biden is unlikely to draw the arena-sized crowds that turned out Sunday in Tampa and Orlando for Republican Sarah Palin, the first woman on the Republican ticket. But for the Democratic Party, Biden is just the warm-up act for Wednesday’s highly anticipated Orlando rally featuring nominee Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton. Obama will also touch base that day with the state’s Democratic stronghold of Broward County. (He’s holding a rally in Sunrise. On Thursday, 0buma is holding a rally in Sarasota – FlA)

Obama has risen in the polls in Florida and across the country in recent weeks, dovetailing his mantra of change with the economy’s downturn. He began airing an attention-seeking, two-minute ad Sunday in several battleground states, including Florida, that twists the classic question once posed by Ronald Reagan. ‘At this defining moment in our history, the question is not, `Are you better off than you were four years ago?’ ‘’ Obama says. ‘We all know the answer to that. The real question is, `Will our country be better off four years from now?’ ‘’ The two-minute ad reflects the Democratic campaign’s substantial financial advantage in the homestretch of the race. South Florida voters are also receiving taped phone messages from Biden’s wife, Jill, urging them to vote early at the polls before Election Day and to join the Democratic Party’s unprecedented grass-roots operation.

In a sign of the campaign’s confidence in Florida, Biden is planning forays into the Republican-leaning turf of New Port Richey, Ocala and Melbourne, before ending his bus tour Wednesday in the West Palm Beach area. It’s the third trip to the state since the Democratic National Convention for the Delaware senator with long-standing ties to South Florida. Biden is expected to continue the Democratic campaign’s focus on the nation’s economic turmoil. Faced with an onslaught of attacks charging that Democrats will raise taxes, Biden is likely to hit hard on the campaign’s promise of tax cuts for those earning less than $250,000.

If Obama is only 60/40 in early votes casted, this is a bad poll.

Too many senile old people in Florida who think Obama will double their social security benefits, lower their taxes and pay for all their medical expenses.

Obama is not winning in FL. This is joke.

Obama will get far fewer Jewish voters in FL and far few Blue Dog Dems especailly in N and central FL. McCain will carry the swing I-4 corridor.

Creepy Jason Alexander was trying to get older Jewish voters in condos in S FL to go for Obama. He admitted it was tough going. Wexler tried it months ago and half of the crowd boo’ed him.

When my in-laws lived in FL, they got messages (phone calls, door drops, some radio ads) that Bush was going to cut Soc Sec benefits. It would not surprise me if this was happening again.

My image of Jason Alexander switched from that of “George Costanza” to the sex-freak with the primordial remnant of a tail in “Honest Hal.”

When I think of that leftist creep, I picture that tail wagging inside his chinos.

Obama was in Tampa not too long ago while Sarah was across the bay in Clearwater. Sarah out pulled home about 7 to 1 in crowd size. Obama should be doing better in Tampa and the I-4 corridor. Biden and Obama are not going to North or Central FL.

Biden is around Melbourne but not enough people to flip there. Their celebs cannot flip edlerly Jewish voters. They have no hispanic celebs or politicians to flip Cuban-Americans and other hispanics.

RCP has been infiltrated. I can’t explain it any other way. Obama is NOT up in Florida. He leads by a mere thousand votes in early voting, he is estimated to have lost 20% of the Jewish vote (77% for Kerry, estimated 57% for Obama), and McCain leads him by 10 points in likely Election Day voters.

Obama will not win Florida.

I’ve been in Florida for many years, and Mason Dixon is a very reliable poll...much more so than the St. Petersburg Times/Miami Herald poll.

But Obama is blanketing the state with lies in ads about McCain cutting medicare, yada, yada, yada. Maybe that could be having an impact.

Palin was in Tampa Sunday and filled the Convention Center, then in Kissimmee and filled that venue.

Biden was in Tampa a few weeks ago, but the venue must have been small because the paper reported there were hundreds in attendance, but they had to turn away “dozens.”

I swear, if McCain wins despite all the pushing and lying the pollsters and MSM have done on Obama’s behalf, they should never be looked upon with anything other than the scorn and derision they so rightly deserve.
