I just had a call from some friends who are stuck in the crowd outside the Asheville venue for tonight's rally. They've been in the same place (there's no line, just a mob, LOL) outside, but nothing seems to be happening, no movement to get in...they're only about 20 feet from the door. Does anyone know if the venue is packed out already. Doors opened at 4 and you were supposed to be inside by 6...but they've been stuck in the crowd outside for quite awhile now, waiting on word of what's happening. If anyone has any info, could you pass it on.
Civic Center is Asheville is probably full, and parking is a nightmare in that city....No doubt they didn’t realize the big crowd Palin would draw???
Evidently not. My friends found parking, but she said the mass of people outside the center is huge and they aren’t getting any info from anybody about what’s happening. But the crowd isn’t moving. They drove all the way up from Atlanta, because Palin isn’t scheduled to be in Atlanta. Interesting thing they struck up a conversation with a guy next to them and he’s a City Councilman or County Commissioner (I forget what she said)...but he can’t get in either.
The plan was if the Civic Center filled up, the auxillary Thomas Wolfe audioturtiom would then be used, and they have to set up huge plasma screen TV’s to get it done.

Yes, but it’s blocks to the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium from the civic center there, if my memory serves me right.
Naaah, Thomas Wolfe is in the same Complex as the Convention Center, if you walk in the front doors, you can head (straight forward?) into Thomas Wolfe, or you can go to the left or right and end up in the Convention Center.
You may be thinking of the Thomas Wolfe House which is blocks away.

We’ve got a friend that called from outside the Civic Center about 1/2 hour ago with the same story. Said they had not moved an inch.
I’m pissed we have to campaign in North Carolina at all. We should have had this state wrapped weeks ago. I still think we win this but having to spend time/money in NC when we need to mobilize Colorado, Virginia, New Hampshire, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio and Florida are the keys.

They just said that Sarah will speak at 7pm, and they will carry it live on channel 40 here in the area.
Okay, they just called and had made it inside but heard they were about to shut the doors. She said there were as many, if not more, people outside as were inside.
I asked her how they got inside...she said we just started pushing, LOL.

The blog says Sarah will be speaking one hour late (8 PM).
White SUV ran through barriers, no one hurt, car got away. On the local channel i just posted above this.
update. They do have his license plate and a description.
It happened in Asheville but at the Obama rally going on. Of course Sarah is do there at 7 p.m.
