Acorn could cause Obama's fall
NewsMax ^ | 10/15/2008 | Dick Morris and Eileen McGann

As Obama lengthens his lead, the Republicans are praying that the election becomes close enough for the Democrats to steal. But meanwhile, ACORN, the radical community group, is becoming an embarrassment for Obama.

It is not as if its shenanigans are likely to tip the result, with the Democrats so far ahead. But as it is raided by the FBI in state after state (11 so far), it is becoming identified as the electoral equivalent of Greenpeace, extremists who will stop at nothing to get their way.

What makes ACORN particularly embarrassing for Obama is that he used to be one of them. He served as general counsel for ACORN in Illinois, channeled millions to the organization from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (whose funds he distributed) and has lately spent $800,000 of his campaign money to subsidize the group's activities.

I have thought for a while, that Obama's greatest liability is his association with ACORN.

There are many who believe that much should be made out of Obama's connection with Bill Ayers. I think that the most that could be gained from that is an attribution of bad judgment on Obama's part. But there is very little that can be demonstrably and presently tied to Obama's campaign, ideology, or planned policies related to Ayers.

ACORN is a different story.

As noted by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann in a recent article, "ACORN could cause Obama's fall":

What makes ACORN particularly embarrassing for Obama is that he used to be one of them. He served as general counsel for ACORN in Illinois, channeled millions to the organization from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (whose funds he distributed) and has lately spent $800,000 of his campaign money to subsidize the group's activities.
I have been keeping up on ACORN related news for the reason that I think if any association is the focal point in criticisms against Obama, it should be ACORN.

I have commented elsewhere on important demonstrable facts about ACORN:

The first two facts, are directly related to THE top 2 concerns on the minds of voters: If anything in the news at all distracts folks from specifics about the candidates between now and the election, it is bound to be one or both of these issues. Any criticisms against Obama related to his association with Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright, and the like can easily be overshadowed by those issues in the news.

One of the advantages an incumbent President has in an election is the ability to influence the news cycle. If you don't have that advantage, one that is just as good is when what's already in the news relates directly to and reinforces the focal point(s) of your criticisms against your opponent.

At the same time, McCain can highlight any solutions he has to the economic crisis, especially when you can document that the majority of job creators favor your economic plan. McCain could also highlight his intentions to preserve democracy by cracking down on organizations involved in voter registration fraud and voter fraud and name ACORN as an example.

ACORN is Obama's greatest liability.

His supporters do not care. There just is no stopping him. I feel like America is doomed.

Sometimes I feel like this and then I have to shake it off and pray that people will wake up before election day.

I agree with you that his supporters do not care. They are blind because they have visceral hatred for Republicans and President Bush, and this election is all about payback. But the fat lady has not yet sung. It is not over yet. I hope McCain lands some very big blows tonight. He has to. I hope he’s well practiced because Obama is ready and is also well-practiced and ready with his ready-responses before McCain even opens his mouth. It’s do or die tonight.

The economy is getting worse. The polls are bad and getting worse. I see no reason to be optimistic at this point. How Americans with any common sense can not see through this guy is beyond me. I feel like I’ve living in the Twilight Zone.

I think vote fraud is THE issue in this election. Without electoral integrity we won’t have a nation for long.

Obama has given over 800,000 dollars to Acorn, has represented ACORN and now Acorn is coming to light as a major fraud organization. Anyone who seeks the job as President vows to uphold the law and here we have someone blatantly supporting a group known to break the law as boldly as possible! President Bush should issue an EXECUTIVE ORDER investigating ACORN today!

Considering Dick Morris worked for Obama’s uncle’s Kenyan campaign - pro bono...

I wonder if we need to consider that he might be leading conservatives on wild goose chases.

There is good reason to take all these pre-election polls with a grain of a salt. Don't let the numbers get you down.

Hey! Have some faith. America is a strong country...Stock markets ebb and flow...this one will recover...(by some time next year I bet).

I still think McCain will win...I have huge FAITH in most of my fellow Americans to see through the fraud that is Obama. If not at the polls...then at the impeachment hearings.

There are a bunch of Americans that just want “free-stuff”...”free” health-care, “free” college educations, “Free” retirement plans.....they just don’t understand that to get them....they need to move to Canada...or France.....LET’S GET OUT THE VOTE AND TELL THEM!

I would advise considering the merits of the claims regardless of the suspected motives of the author.

I have no loyalty to Obama, his Keynan uncle, Democrats, or liberals despite my loyalty to my own African-American roots and community. I came to my assessment independent of Morris’ article. Even if Morris has some covert, anti-conservative motive, I think the facts speak for themselves.

I was under the impression that impeachment hearings started in the House. If so, which of the current lot of Democrats do you believe would introduce that?

I believe the single entity in this whole election cycle that NEEDS to be punished and held accountable is the MSM!
Somehow someway we have to make them PAY for the lies and the ignoring of Obama’s dubious associations etc. etc. etc.
I mean they (NBC,CBS,ABC) are the most watched by “average” citizens. A vast majority of our country has been flat-out LIED too!

We had a HUGE amount of cars honking, folks smiling & waving back to us, thumbs up...

...I can count on one hand the Obama cars...

IT WAS ENCOURAGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Driving around South West Ohio (Dayton, Cincinnati, Springfield) McCain signs far outnumber Obama signs (100 to 1 maybe). Last time it was pretty much 50-50 Kerry vs. Bush signs. Whether it translates into votes, we'll have to see.
