Joosten proudly showed off her receipt for 25.36 gallons at $8.85. She said she saw other motorists filling gas cans, too, at the discounted price.

If they paid by credit card at the pump, expect adjusted invoices to arrive in their mailboxes.

Someone is going to have to redesign the gas pump ppricing software to not allow that type of mistake. (e.g., no 2 digit pricing, or no price change of more than 50% at a time)

Wisconsin Rapids is not a big town. I’d be embarrassed to admit I ripped off my neighbor’s gas station.

Joosten proudly showed off her receipt for 25.36 gallons at $8.85.Yep. My reaction exactly. This nimrod just cheated one of her neighbors and she is bragging about it!
If I had the low moral character to do the same, I'd at least have the sense to keep my mouth shut.

I don’t think it’s funny -
these people are thieves who took advantage of someone’s mistake.

I feel sorry for the gas station owner. That mistake is going to really hurt, might even drive them under.
“Thou Shalt Rip Off Thy Neighbor” seems the new way of doing business.

Thou Shalt Rip Off Thy Neighbor seems the new way of doing business. With that an "No Snitching" we have very bad result.

Agreed. If I saw that the pump price and the sign were different, I’d feel compelled to check with the owner to make sure that’s what they intended. Taking advantage of this mistake is theft.

I imagine that if any of these folks were on the other side of this issue, they would readily agree. Who wouldn't go back into a store after noticing that the computer register over charged them by 90%?
