To read this Akron Beacon Journal story, which at points is unintentionally comical, you would think that the one-way assault between two senior citizens over the way a ballot was marked at an Ohio nursing home was merely the result of some sort of misunderstanding. That is the way Beacon Journal staff writer, Stephanie Warsmith, tries to portray it (emphasis mine):
Poll workers from opposing sides in the presidential race apparently clashed in a physical altercation Friday at a Cuyahoga Falls nursing home when one accused the other of improperly marking a ballot.
George Manos, the 75-year-old Republican, told police that Edith Walker, the 73-year-old Democrat, jumped on his back and struck him in the head three to four times with her fists. Manos said two other elections workers had to pull Walker off his back, according to a report filed with Cuyahoga Falls police.
Manos said it happened after he accused Walker of ballot tampering, and he wants to prosecute.
Okay, now that we got the comedy part of the story out of the way with that image of a 73 year old woman jumping on the back of a 75 year old man and pounding him on the head with her fists, let's get to the more serious section about the attempted ballot tampering:

PING!
“As you can read in the comments below the story, the Democrats remain unrepentant while the Republicans are angered at yet another blatant attempt at vote fraud:
I hope Obama “steals” the election. Today’s Republicans need a good kick in the nuts. The last 8 years have been a massive failure. Disagree?”
Interesting comment after the original story. Apparently some will be unmoved by any reports of Obama stealing the election because they are still seething from Bush/Gore in 2000. So the whole ACORN story will have little impact on some of those moonbats. Truly scary.
In this instance, the good news is the mayor of Cuyahoga Falls is a Republican. I don’t think this one will be ignored.
What Obama and a Rat-dominated Congress could do in two years would be enough to disenfranchise their opposition.
You better wake up and assess the enemy, Buddy! It ain't McCain!
Wow—I just commented in another thread that a favorite spot for Dems to get votes in Cook County is nursing homes where they can “help” people fill out their ballots....
GODDAMMIT MCCAIN SEND A FEW LAWYERS AND A NEWS CREW DOWN THERE TO MAKE A HUGE ISSUE OUT OF THIS
The Dubuque, IA machine has done that for at least two decades. A local perennial Democrat officeholder provides a van to pick up and drop off, while kind, compassionate Democrat poll haunters "help" the elderly to vote. I have seen them also "help" those with senile dementia and advanced Alzheimer's.
Mr. niteowl77
Lots of them I suspect. As a former poll worker here in Ohio I can tell you the big speil about how 2 dems and 2 reps working together to keep it on the up and up is bogus. If a poll needs someone of the other party they jut tell the volunterr to change their party registation and the next day bingo they can work as whatever party is needed at that poll.
“You better wake up and assess the enemy, Buddy! It ain’t McCain!”
I hope you don’t think that was my comment. I copied it from the original article’s comments. I just think no proof of vote stealing is going to persuade the Obama supporters who believe Bush stole the election to rethink their support of Obama. I think they see it as commeuppance to the Republicans. That attitude scares me to death because it is the old “means justifies the end” problem that brings in so many problems.
Someone I know who ran for office in Cook County reported this to the Board of Elections. Nothing was done—they said it was a “he said-she said” situation. I guess you have to have a video of it happening? .....We are in a heap of trouble.
Actually, the story gets evev better! When confronted with the O-marked ballot, she also then marked it for McCain. So both zero and McCain were marked, meaning the ballot would have been disqualified. No loss for zer0, but a lost vote for McCain. Typical dem/acorn tactic!
That was probably a fall-back tactic if she was discovered. I believe she meant it as a vote for Obama but if she couldn’t get it she could plead error and get the ballot disqualified. I don’t for a moment believe this was an innocent error, especially given her violent reaction.
Eggs Ackley the point I was trying to make!
Well of course, silly. Anyone too dumb to vote for Obama needs someone to make sure they don’t make a mistake and vote the wrong way. That’s why Walker had to review the ballot and “Fix” it.
