The mainstream media thought that the membership of Todd Palin, who is not a candidate for any office, in the Alaska Independence Party important enough to report in such outlets as the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, and the New York Times, among others. So now that Barack Obama's membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization?
Proof of Obama's membership in the New Party was discovered by the Politically Drunk On Power blog:
In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.

This is A DUD. The concepts of socialism, communism, and totalitarianism have been so watered down by the media and schools that most Americans either don’t care or see those terms as archiac throwbacks to the McCarthy hearings.
You and I know better, certainly, but I’m talking about most people. The genius of leftist writers screaming “blacklist” for 50 years is that any accusation of leftist intent is viewed by most people as the barking of a toothless dog. Some of us, either by education or experience, understand the immense threat leftwing ideas bring to a society, culture, and government, but we’re nowhere near the majority.
Then there’s the utopian problem.
I’ve been a teacher for 10 years. During that time, I’ve heard two colleagues say these exact words: “Communism is a good idea, but it hasn’t been tried right.” (The colleagues were separated by 2,000 miles and four years, too... spooky.) There are also people out there who view infatuation with socialism and its byproducts as a good thing that all smart young people should dabble in, the same people who fashionably posted that poster of Che Guevara or Mao in their dorm room.
Add to that the sheer mass of people who think all politicans are lying scum, so they don’t care if Obama lies, too.
This news will unleash a collective yawn in the American psyche, which is too bad. This news is like standing on the tracks and mistaking the light of an oncoming train for a bright star on the horizon.
If the MSM can get a guy this flawed elected they can get a ham sandwich elected.

You're right. Using these words to convince someone of the danger Obama poses is almost a sure way to tune them out. "Oh come on", "I know he's liberal, but a communist?" "What, like Hitler? Gimme a break." It's like there's a complete void of understanding of what these things, that they exist in the here and now, and how they are very effectively and methodically being put into place via the Democrat machine -- and the media.
Of couse the MSM will not report it. It’s up to Sarah to do so, if spineless John will let her!

The true believers and Obama can have each other. I’m concerned about reaching the ones who might vote for Obama just because he’s the “not-Bush” candidate. The ones who want to switch parties in the White House, as if that could make all of our troubles go away. They can be persuaded. I know people like this. There are lots of them.
I think more to the point is what kind of disgraceful behavior in his past would it take for the MSM to change their tactics and expose this creep? IOW, how far down the road to perdition are they willing to slither?
I will personally drive over there and slap you if you ever dare to disgrace the name of the ham sandwich again by comparing it to obama.

Not to mention that for someone who was not a member of the NP, he seemed to be a regular in their newsletters during that timeframe.

The bed-wetting liberals who vote these traitors into congress don’t care. Hell, half the members at my local American Legion here in the socialist/welfare state of Michigan are either communists or socialists. This country is stinky stuffed to gunwales with Marxists. Sooner or later, we need to do a major house cleaning.
