28 Days Left -- What did you do TODAY to help Republicans win?
Free Republic Exclusive | 10/8/08 | Antoninus

Posted on 10/08/2008 7:09:32 AM PDT by Antoninus

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sick and tired of the hand-wringing defeatist doom-and-gloom losers that seem to haunt FR these days like Jim McGreevey at a turnpike rest-stop.

Therefore, with your indulgence and that of the mods, I would like to start a sequence of threads counting down to election day whereupon we can record what we are doing in a POSITIVE way to help elect McCain/Palin and Republicans and defeat Obama/Biden and the Democrats.

The following actions do not count:

1. Writing a whining vanity on FR about how the McCain campaign needs to change now or it's all over.

2.) Posting an article on FR highlighting a "bad news" poll.

3.) Posting comments on FR whining about unfair media coverage.

There are a lot of positive, meaningful things that many of us are and should be doing to help achieve victory. Much of this involves volunteering for the campaign and getting out into your community with the truth about Obama and his abysmal record, inexperience, and shady associates.

The media won't do it, so it's up to us. Are you up to the challenge?

It's my hope that these threads will serve as a clearing-house for such ideas and an inspiration for those folks who are still sitting on their butts to get up and do something!

I'll start. Today, I...

1.) Created a Democrats for McCain flyer which is available for download: Democrats for McCain (pdf)

2.) Said a rosary for the success of the McCain/Palin ticket.

3.) Donated to the 4Q FReepathon.

I know you said that the mods should stop the posting of these - so does that mean you what the mods to take yours down also?

Did you do anything to help achieve victory today? Any plans?

Amen. FR is often a tremendous force for good. But the left is fully aware that they can use the forum to spread defeatism and gloom if they can keep their trolls in deep enough cover.

Don't let them!

1) Prayed that G-d will put a man in the White House who is after His heart

2) Put in 2 hours of calling time at local HQ to get out the base. Committed to every Saturday except one, for the duration, 4 hours each.

3) Prayed again that G-d will put a man in the White House who is after His heart

Praying about taking 2 days off for 72-hr volunteering in a battleground state in the last few days.

Yesterday, here in Maryland, I stopped at our county republican headquarters. I made a donation and picked up bumper stickers for the family cars. I also signed up to volunteer in whatever capacity they need me. You all may want to know that the office was extremely busy and filled with excitement!! Many people there, doing what I was doing, and the yard signs were flying out the door. And this is Maryland, the state that McCain cannot carry!! Keep the faith, people!!!

Oh yeah, and gave a huge amount of money (for me) to the McPain/Palin campaign. Put it on my credit card—I figured we won’t have a country anyway if we lose, so what the heck.

Also, committed myself to not read another “chicken little” thread on FR (hard to do sometimes because even sincere threads get hijacked by chicken littles and defeatists).

We’ve been praying. I hope that the truth comes out about Obama and that it airs nationwide.

We must stay positive because, even if we do lose, we need to continue to pray and ask God for wisdom and his grace. There will be much to do to make sure that Obama is not re-elected, should he make it in November. A good thing to remember is that when enough people rise up about an issue, most presidents listen and sometimes alter their way of thinking. We need to stay vocal, even if McCain wins.

Conservatives tend to believe that once our guy is in, we can stay out of politics until the next election. But we need to continue to let our wishes be made known and hold McCain to conservative principals...as, should he make in in November, it won’t be without our help...and he knows that!

Very good post. And it didn't surprise me either that the very first reply resembles something from some snot-nosed punk that wouldn't do lift a finger for any candidate, including a resurrected Reagan himself.

Haven't done too much today, but did stop by the McCain HQ for some stickers and to request a yard sign for me and my neighbor. And continue to dispel Dem-heavy polls and media bias while promoting McCain/Palin conservative candidates via FR and E-mail.

The email thing is VERY important. I've been sending emails around every time a new bit of damning Obama video comes out on YouTube to my whole email list. And the folks on there are all networked to others.

It's vital that we all begin doing this--particularly to friends and relatives who are Democrats.

Between the COLB and the fraudulent donations, time to Freep the FEC. And now rampant voter fraud. We cannot let the community organizer steal the election.

Office of Inspector General:
Phone: 1-800-424-9530
Fax 1-202-501-8134
Email: oig@fec.gov

Federal Election Commission:
Phone: 1-202-694-1015 or
1-800-424-9530
FAX: 1-202-694-1100

To email all our congressperps, go here:
www.funconservative.com

Also, Donate money or time if possible. McCain camp still needs volunteers to man the phone bank. Calls can be made from the privacy of your own home. I enjoyed it and talked to some very pleasent people. A couple of rude ones but what do you expect from libs.

Also, voluteer to be a poll watcher, God knows we really need them.

Also, keep talking up the Hannity special. I emailed Fox requesting a replay since with all the football and baseball Sunday I’m sure alot of people missed it and wont be searching youtube looking for clips.

Also, write comments to your local newspapers. Sometimes they print them.

Also, put up a yard sign, bumper sticker, wear a shirt etc.

any other suggestions?

Oh, and I picked up my tickets today for the McCain/Palin townhall in Waukesha WI tomorrow. My 13 year old daughter talked me into going. She’s crazy about the Governor.

We are the only ones who can beat us.

You're exactly right. The Obamamaniacs know they can't win if turnout resembles 2004. That's why they're doing their best via polls and lovefest articles to depress conservative turnout. And unfortunately, at least here on FR, they're being somewhat successful.

But when I start to get worried I remember that FR is just a very, very small segment of society. This morning driving and then walking to work I couldn't get over the number of McCain/Palin stickers on vehicles.

Letters to the editor in your local paper is a great way to get the truth out.

Most newspapers now have an online section that allows sending them in with email so its easy.

Hammer the liberal democrats in Congress for the economic mess they caused by pushing CRA and protecting ACORN. Obama is up to his ample ears in the ACORN CRA mess.

My local paper only allows someone to write one letter per month but I always get that one/month printed.

Anyone living in a hunting state should hammer obama on gun control and being endorsed by the national humane society.

Anyone that can type a post to a thread can sure send in some LTE’s and they are effective.

You're exactly right. The Obamamaniacs know they can't win if turnout resembles 2004. That's why they're doing their best via polls and lovefest articles to depress conservative turnout.

I'm skeptical that this actually works. I'm a veteran of the 2000 election, when much the same thing was going on in reverse. The "broken glass" GOPers of that year loved Dubya, and the Dems were at best lukewarm about Gore. Dubya got so arrogant and cocky about his chances that he actually campaigned on the left coast a week before the election in an attempt to run up the EC score of his coming blowout win. I think this made lots of Dems mad and they voted in droves.

The Obamatons/media are making the same mistake this year. And they are being much uglier about it than Dubya ever was on his worst day in 2000. It is making lots of GOPers and right-leaning Independents mad as hell. And with Sarah Palin now finally getting to show her Sarah Barracuda side (and doing a damn good job at it, I might add), the GOP base is finally getting fired up. We have been begging for months for McCain to start going after the real left wing radical Barack Obama, not the phony centrist Manchurian candidate Barack Obama that we saw last night. The formidable GOP GOTV operation (which, thankfully, is run by the RNC rather than the McCain campaign) still exists and is better funded than ever. Obama brags about his operation, but he is merely doing things that the GOP started doing six years ago. Contrary to all the propaganda we are hearing, I don't see the Dems having any significant turnout advantage in this election, and that means that I remain optimistic that McCain will win.

ALL of the south suburbs here in Dayton are McCain signs. Far more than Bush-—I attribute this to a lot of people didn’t like Bush’s “religiousity.” (I actually overheard a conversation in a donut shop among four businessmen-—whom I bet were cheating on their wives and doing funny things with tax returns-—who were complaining in 2000 that Bush had ties to “Falwell and Robertson.” They were almost certainly “country club” Republicans who didn’t want to hear about abortion or sin. But I’m betting McCain gets every one of their votes.
