Sarah Palin: Two months ago she was unknown, but she could be the key to winning Hampton Roads.
Hooks, lines and sinkers dot the walls at Vanasse's Bait and Tackle shop in Fox Hill, where the over-the-counter chatter hums with the pulse of conservative politics in Hampton Roads.
Ask the average shopper at Vanasse's which bait works best in local waters and the discussion just might morph into a give-and-take on wasteful spending and federal government largesse. Over the years, the shop north of Buckroe Beach has grown into a barnstorming must for Republican hopefuls.
Alan Vanasse is the political guru behind the counter, and even he admits a little shock when he first heard that Republican presidential candidate John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate.
"Governor of Alaska?" he said. "I didn't know the first thing about her."
Vanasse did some background research, liked what he read about Palin and then sat back and waited for the reaction from his loyal customers.
"Every one to the man every single person was elated that he picked her," Vanasse said. "The gun activists, they're delighted to have her."
Since her introduction to the national political stage in late August, Palin has generated a buzz in conservative circles that McCain had been unable to energize. Not only has Palin brought a fresh face to a campaign that has dragged on for nearly two years, she also has a folksy down-home demeanor that plays well with the GOP base, especially in rural areas and the Midwest. Palin even reached out to "Joe Six-Pack" during the vice presidential debate.
Palin's resume on social issues has also connected with a Republican base that views McCain with a healthy dose of skepticism because of his willingness to buck the party line. During...

What effect?
How the effect is a win!
They need to turn her loose in battleground states. Thanks for the pics!
How many people do the media say attended those events? About 1,000?
There’s about 1,000 in the section between the two stars flanking the words “Country First”. Don’t believe the MSM liars, just GET OUT AND VOTE!!!
As I said days after her nomination Sarah Palin will have the biggest impact of any VP in American History, by making inroads with the female vote she destroys the traditional coalition that gets democrats elected. The enemy knows this and hence the “Borking” of her.
This video will help.

How about Obama openly campaigning for his communist cousin Odinga who signed a pact with Muslims to enact Sharia Law if elected and started riots when he lost. Obama campaigned for an openly Anti-American candidate in a foreign country in 2006.
Victory!
There is a big time Naval presents in Hampton Roads, and in Fla, I don’t know of any active or retired sailors who won’t be voting for mcCain/Palin. Country first in is a motto I live by!
Word is out that Mac has been getting heavy E-mailing to the effect that ‘it is time to take the gloves off’ and go hard and heavy at BamBam re his past, his associations and EXPERIENCE, (i.e. fitness to lead and command, his character).
Let us hope he does, can’t leave it all up to Sarah!
Don’t worry — I don’t believe the MSM.
I got an email from the wife of my oldest and dearest friend this morning . She said he was leaning toward McCain UNTIL McCain picked Sarah ! My pal’s wife was leaning toward Obama until he voted for the bailout . Now she says she might vote for Nader !
I am blown away . I thought I knew these people .
Oh - and now my pal is leaning toward OBAMA !
They’ve lived in CT their whole lives and both work at UCONN . That’ll do it .
At least they will know what they are voting for rather than against.
Did yesterday .
Well, I applaud the sailors for their largesse in gift giving and PRESENTS, but I am FAR more impressed with the sheer number of them who grace us with their PRESENCE at such auspicious occasions of their own free will!
God bless you. I’ve been sending links to original articles to my deluded aunt, cousin and sister. I can only pray they will decide Obama isn’t their cup of tea. Their only reason for voting for him is because they “hate Bush.” Go figure.
