PARIS (AFP) Wall Street's sickness and its contagiousness for the world economy are bad news for the already faltering effort to craft a new pact to tackle climate change.
Tighter budgets, shrinking corporate profits and worries about jobs could crimp manoeuvering room at upcoming UN talks on toughening curbs on greenhouse-gas emissions, sources say.
But -- so far, at least -- the crisis does not appear to be having an impact on investment in clean technology, say these sources. Indeed, some are confident that spending on wind, solar and other renewables may even rise.

The one positive thing about the financial mess is not having to hear the endless global warming sob stories.

Leftists have always refused to acknowledge that environmentalism is a luxury of comfortable societies. (Suffering societies care little about dying trees when their own children are dying of starvation.) If you decrease the comforts of society, you automatically decrease its enthusiasm for money-wasting technology with uncertain benefits.

The environmental movement has very, very little to do with the environment and EVERYTHING to do with controlling energy and then using energy to control the means of production. In other words, promoting Communism.
If it weren’t about promoting Communism then the green freaks would be shrieking about all of the third world countries and the developing nations along with China and India. In doing so they would be actually attacking the REAL environmental problems. However, the whole goal has very little to do with the environment and EVERYTHING to do with controlling energy. That’s why the green freaks are so dead set against nuclear as well. Nuclear power IS clean, period. But they don’t want that either. That goes against the ability to control energy and the means of production.

Democrats Covering up the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Economic Crisis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p1Wc2NFa3w
MORE WARNINGS TO DEMS who actually BLOCKED REPUBLICAN ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE MESS IN 2004 AND 2006
EVEN BEFORE THE HOUSING MARKET TANKED, MCCAIN SPONSORED A BILL TO TRY TO FIX FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC. DEMOCRATS CONTROLLED CONGRESS AND KILLED IT!
Americans everywhere had better quickly come to terms with the fact that the Democrats and their media propaganda machines are anti-American terrorist sympathizers who want America destroyed. They have so completely deceived the public with their Goebbles-style media propaganda machine that misguided “useful idiots” are attacking Republicans the same way that the brown shirts attacked the jews.
THERE IS A TOTAL MEDIA BLACKOUT ON DEMOCRAT TERRORIST ACTIVITIES!
THE BARAK OBAMA - DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE SCANDAL!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiEWCnpNnBQ
The Story the Democrat Media Propaganda Machine is hiding! The story that EVERYONE IN AMERICA should know!
SEND THESE LINKS TO EVERY PERSON IN AMERICA!
SEND THESE LINKS TO EVERY PERSON IN AMERICA!
If you actually take the time to do the research you will quickly learn that the Democrats want to “tax” oil and gas companies, and push their “green agenda” as a means to control energy. By controlling energy they can then control the means of production. Or put in plain English they can bring America FULLY into Communism. The shrieks for health care reform are related to regulating the medical industry to FORCE them into supporting abortion. The Democrats are nothing but fascists, they do NOT believe in Democracy or they wouldn't routinely take such unpopular stances against the public!
THE MAJOR MEDIA IS NOTHING BUT THE DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA ARM. EXCEPT FOR FOX NEWS THEY WILL NEVER REPORT THIS. THEY ARE ACTIVELY HIDING IT AND COVERING IT UP! GET THE WORD OUT! SEND THIS INFORMATION TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW IN THE COUNTRY, EVERYTHING THEY THINK THEY KNOW ABOUT DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS IS A BIG LIE! A BIG LIE SPONSORED BY THE DEMOCRAT MEDIA PROPAGANDA MACHINE!

Agreed with your post on the real issues behind environmentalism, however, environmentalism is the means they are using to force developed countries to put their means of production under international control and environmentalism as an argument works only if you can induce guilt. Guilt requires luxury, in my opinion. The guilt part is tied to economic health of a society and when that is threatened, the guilt decreases and environmentalism loses its punch. It would then require the watermelons to find another facade behind which to attack capitalism and Western values.

Forgot to include a certain point. Unlike earlier movements masking ulterior motives, it will be somewhat difficult to adopt another facade than environmentalism because the tree-hugger acolytes have adopted a quasi-religious zeal in pushing environmentalism. It will be more difficult to convince the deluded “true believers” that it was only a facade for other goals. Not impossible, but difficult and traumatic for some. ;o)

But -- so far, at least -- the crisis does not appear to be having an impact on investment in clean technology Since the bailout included big subsidies for wind, solar, and renewables, there will always be an "investor" feeding at the trough.

Nietsche - “Erst kommt das Fressen, und dann die Moral.”
Means exactly what you said. Only, more. He said “Fressen”, instead of “Essen.” The distinction is that fressen is dog food. If you can’t even afford dog food for your kids, screw the dang trees.
