He said he would involve former Vice President Al Gore in efforts to address the issue. "I would tap him, I would tap people who have been involved in these issues for many years." McCain noted that he disagreed with the Nobel Peace Prize winner about nuclear energy but added, "I have great respect for Al Gore."

Glad to know he does...but I sure don’t. Hope McCain is not gonna turn out to be another Dubya who plays nice all the time and gets slapped down. I wish it was the other way around on the ticket as Palin/McCain.
I figure it will hit McCain around Nov 5th. What the hell happened?
yes, i know... try with everything you've got to vote for Palin... she's really made a sacrifice to be a part of this campaign... she deserves to be compensated...
Bingo!
I am from Tampa Bay. This reminds me of rooting for th old Buccaneers 0 and 16 teams. UGGG
“Thats what you do in a close election, especially when you are courting Hillary voters who may have a soft spot for Gore.”
You’re right. Pander is the game. We keep hoping our candidates will just tell the truth. Silly notion, I know.
You would think that he would keep his stupid pie hole shut on the day his CONSERVATIVE running mate is making an all out effort to save his sorry ass.
FGS! Take off the velvet gloves!
My step mother is a HUGE Hitlery fan. When I asked today if she is going to vote for "The One" she said no.
I should note that she lives in Pennsylvania. So if you are looking for good news from Pa. there it is!
I like Sarah. Her background is great. Her life story is great. She shares almost all my political views. I still wish she had a little more experience under her belt.
Another five years, I would have been a whole lot more comfortable with her one heartbeat away from the presidency.
As for Obama, he’s even less prepared. Biden hasn’t been on the right side of an issue in his life. We’ve sure got a doozie of a choice this year.
There are only two reasons any conservative would even think about voting for McCain.
1 - Sarah Palin
2 - He’s not Barack Obama
DOH!!
What planet is he from?
What language does he read?
Has he been imprisoned for the past 20 years?
How can he be so oblivious to what’s going on?
Please don’t get me wrong, I cringe too, but I think a lot people here ignore the positives about McCain. If McCain were right 80% of time, people would talk only about the 20%.
“Sure hes stable. This is what John McCain has been as long as he has been on the public scene. He was the only Republican in the Keating Five debacle. He seems to author leftist bills with Democrats. He owns Democrats core beliefs on a number of issues.
This is John McCain, pure and simple. I know a lot of us wish he was otherwise. He just isnt.
If you think its bad now, just wait until hes in charge.
Yes, I realize Obama is worse.”
What an ugly reality you’ve described. As long as we allow the media to pick our candidates, this is what we’ll get. I can’t believe so many are willing to accept that. McCain is just being McCain, the same guy who has ticked us all off more often than not for 20 years. I do believe for some delusional reason, that McCain still believes the media is fair. I guess he has to dance with the ones that brought him here to some extent.
Works for me.
Well he could say’ “Al Gore is a moonbat” which might make some folks happy but probably not garner any votes. In the Senate they regularly call people they despise, “my esteemed colleague” - that’s the nature of politics, because anything less than bland praise can get you into political hot water.
The race is too close to tick any group off. We need every last vote we can get to keep Barry out of the White House.
My problem with Palin this go round, is that she was simply window dressing for John. Once she was nominated John hasn’t been the focus of the media one time. It worked splendidly. The right loves here, and so much so it doesn’t matter what John is.
When November 5th comes along, it will be “Sarah who?” at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
I could be wrong I suppose, but this is how I see it.
I think you are right to love Sarah. Don’t take me wrong.
The exact reason he is losing! A refusal to speak and expose the truth. Perhaps he doesn’t know the truth? You cannot respect those who are out to destroy you.
McCain is really unsettling. Something really bothers me about him.
Taxation without representation is the story here, 85% of the public wanted that bill to die and burn. The sob's voted it in anyway. McCain just killed himself off I think.
jersey117: “Hes trying to win the independents so that he actually has a shot at this.”
Oh, I think he’s trying to win independents. The thing is, it’s not a purely political act. No. He really, really means it. John McCain is, for all practical purposes, a moderate Democrat. Nevertheless, I’ll vote for a moderate Democrat over a Marxist any day!
“Please dont get me wrong, I cringe too, but I think a lot people here ignore the positives about McCain. If McCain were right 80% of time, people would talk only about the 20%.”
If, if, if....We’re busting our butts trying to see the ‘positives’! He’s not helping.
See post 64.
To be honest, almost to a man the Republicans in D.C. fail to see the media players for what they are. They fail to see the opposition for what they are also IMO. They just don’t get it. This is one of the most frustrating things.
In baseball the Democrats would be the opposing player that always spiked your team mates. Your whole team despises the guy. Then your own coach is asked about him in the press, and he lauds the guy for publication.
That’s our guys for ya...
McCain wants too much to be liked. Dangerous quality (but I’ll unhappily vote for him anyway.)
If McCain is elected, you are going to be surprised that he will run this country from right.
Remember in his first economic speech last year, he said he would only implement environmental regulation if it didn’t hurt the US economy.
He does have an out. He said he would support Kyoto only if China and India did, but they won’t and they never will.
Yes, I realize Obama is worse.
In my estimation, McCain has a good chance of being a disaster as President.
On the other hand, Obama is a certain catastrophe.
That's about where we are...
That sounds like a tag line.
I am begining to think the man is an idiot.
I am voting for Sarah Palin, and that is the only reason this guy will benefit from my vote.
Good Lord, is this really the best we can do?
I can’t believe this is the same guy that used to land jets on carriers.
Gore?
I hate to say it, but Hillary has more balls than McCain. She fought to the bitter end. She wasn’t afraid to say that she appealed to White voters. She didn’t care that people called her a shameful opportunist when she was throwing back shots of Crown Royal.
And am I the only who is convinced that it was a Hillary supporter way high up at ABC News who decided to air those Rev. Wright videos? I’d bet my life on it. It’s only because of Hillary that the American people got to see those videos. She left no fingerprints, but she was behind it, no question.
There was only so much she could do, seeing as she was appealing to Democrats. But if she were the Republican nominee, believe you me, she would leave no unused bullets in her guns. As opposed to McCain, who will leave warehouses full of stockpiles of WMDs that he should have been detonating against Obama over the past month.
“McCain lost my vote when he voted for this pig bailout bill.”
Mine too. I was ready to feel dirtier than a prostitute and vote for him but not now and for the same reason. He has exposed himself too many times for what he is and it’s pure politician. All I can hope for at this point is that if Obama wins, he will be fought tooth and nail all the way by congress and after 4 years of him, America will not want another democrat for a good 20 years. It’s going to be painful.
Lots of Freepers seem to think that America could not survive an Obama presidency.
For better or for worse, John McCain does not feel the same way.
I want to make it into a bumper sticker, with Obama’s “O” in the o’s of Hope and Vote.
ping
I sympathize with your sentiments.
Everyone knows what I'd like to happen between the young vital potential vice president and the more elderly fellow. There's no way I can say it on Free Republic without sounding mean.
This is sickening.
.
? My German Shepard is smarter than Biden.A lot more popular with the ladies too.
Just STFU!
Amen!
I've got fist just his size!
arrghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Gore is completely insane! John McCain, what the heck is wrong with you?
glad to get that scream off my chest.
