Every Republican should call the House Leader’s office, too.

....instead of “Stop the Bailout” how about a “stabilize the markets” movement instead?....yesterday my retirement account took quite a hit...so did my wife’s pension fund...so did the university’s scholarship endowment fund...think your money market funds are immune from a run?....think again....we are all tied into Wall Street one way or the other.

I go for Gingrich’s proposals:

Gingrich’s four-point plan includes: (1) suspending immediately mark to market provisions (the accounting practice of valuing a financial position in an investment at its current market price) in the hopes of stopping the downward spiral in asset values and eventually replacing it with a three year rolling average; (2) repealing immediately Sarbanes-Oxley, the 2002 accounting law Gingrich described as “an enormous drag on small business”; (3) setting the capital gains tax rate at zero “matching the Chinese and Singapore” (to encourage private capital to flood into the market picking up properties without the taxpayers being at risk); and (4) passing an “extraordinarily powerful” energy bill (”to return $500 billion a year to the American economy that are currently going overseas”).

If a FReeper can't {or is too lazy to} get his/her congresscritter's contact info they should join du where someone can THINK for them.

I sent a thank you email to Tim Murphy for voting NO.

I'm a volunteer for PALIN/McCain and have little use for people that are "too busy" to send an email.

I'll do Group #3

We also need to demand that Dodd and Frank be removed from their positions and that Pelosi step aside.

As well as no loop holes for ACORN

When I called my Rep yesterday I told them that all money to the UN, ACORN, ACLU, CAIR, and LaRaza should stop at least until this money is reclaimed. They are a big drain to our system.

YES ABSOLUTELY IT IS A CRISIS.

The reason it is a crisis is that these mortgages or the CMO's and CDO's form the asset base for banks. The value of those securities are almost non-existent now and that means the banks don't have enough assets to guarantee the deposits they are holding.

If their asset/deposit ratio gets too low the FDIC has to step in and take over. If the FDIC takes over too many banks it will fail. If people start to fear that their money is not safe they will run take their money out of banks. If they start doing that we are FINISHED. There is no where near enough money in banks to withstand large withdrawals.

We must fix this crisis. This is not a drill. This is not a hoax. If we do not fix this, there will be no economy and even those who are piously proud of their fiscal responsibility will be BROKE.

If the banks fail, even those with savings are lost. If their is rapid inflation or deflation the money they have saved will go up in smoke. This is not a simple, or shallow concept. Even if you don't understand it, it is very very very dangerous for each and every citizen of the US and even the rest of the world.

The federal reserve and the banking system is a house of cards that would be nice to fix. But right now we have to work with what we have allowed to be built. The entire house of cards is teetering and may fail no matter what we do.

Whatever you do, do not listen to those who say, "let it fall."
