McCain missed a golden opportunity at the very start of the debate. He had the chance to tell the world about Obama’s ties to the Fanny may and Freddie Mac mismanagement by cronies of Obama, his ties to ACORN and ACORNS record of voter fraud. He would probably know all these things if he read Free Republic. I think he is a wimp.

Call me strange but I think undecided and swing voters are more swayed by character than by issues

Yep Prez elections are personality/character contests

Undecided know DIDDLY about the issues or they wouldn't be undecided

It was pitiful, really......and to hear the talking heads afterward even implying that Obama “won” the debate was simply laughable.

The talking heads are all in the tank for O, and they are idiots. The Drudge poll with over 200,000 votes has McCain winning by a landslide (66%).

Last night after the Phillies game was over and after taking a late shower I turned on the Local sports talk show here in the Philly area ( staffed by liberals)and the host said the consensus was the Old Guy won

You’re welcome.

Believe it or not, I missed the debate because of a prior dinner engagement with friends.

I just wanted the essense of the debate, not necessarilly the point by point “factoids”.

I think that’s how the election will be decided, by gut instinct.

Obambi, the left and the so called MSM scare and depress the hell out of me. I think if Obambi wins the election America and Western civilization may be doomed.

And you’re right about our bias. What is the pragmatic, empirical reality about the electorate and how they will actually vote?

It’s hard to know and my vast right wing conspiratorial paranoia obscures my objectivity sometimes. The leftwing MSM is so blatent in their bias and making so much continuous noise that it’s difficult to ascertain how the “average” John and Mary thinks and will vote.

I think this election is that important.

Scary to think 34% are that delusional
BR>I wonder how much of the voting was unorganized political groupies rather than sites like Freerepublic DU etc

Yes, the “old white-haired guy” won soundly. Easily once the first 2 questions were out of the way and the subject was turned to international issues (which was what the debate was supposed to be about).

My favorite comment of the evening, though, was in saying that 0 doesn't know the difference between strategy and tactics.

LOL. I about fell off the couch when McCain said it.

I did notice "The One" responded by saying he did know the difference but then failed to explain it.

Here's the crucial question:
Scenario:

New York and LA have just been destroyed by terrorist nukes that we have high confidence were delivered by Iranian agents.

A year prior the Russians entered into a NATO-style alliance with Iran. The Russians have threatened nuclear war with us if we take out Iran.

Who would you prefer on the red phone at that moment?

In other words...The emperor has no clothing.

Last night's debate was focused on international issues. As a good politician, he knows when to use weapons in his arsenal. 0bama basically has thrown almost all of his talking points for domestic issues, which no doubt will appear again in debate #2 and #3. There will be time to mention those things in the next debates that will be focused on domestic issues.

I don’t think this was the time for that. He can do it at a later debate, after the vote this weekend on the stabilization plan.

My favorite comment of the evening, though, was in saying that 0 doesn't know the difference between strategy and tactics. To anyone who does know the difference, it was a b!tch slap to the man who would be the CIC of America's Armed Forces.

I also liked the throwaway line when McCain remarked "I don't have a Presidential Seal", a smack at Obamessiah's Seal, patterned after the Presidential Seal.

Immediately after the debate nbc got stumbling bumbling joe biden’s take. Joe quickly attacked McCain’s assertion that obama doesn’t know the difference between strategy and tactics, but didn’t really make much sense. Nothing new there. Then they went to Guiliani, who noted that McCain is determined to win on all fronts while obama’s strategy is to lose in Iraq so we can win in Afghanistan.

Remember the Democratic primary debate where 4-5 candidates would raise their hand trying to get the attention of the moderator.

Obama kept raising his hand..........it was so wierd. There are only two guys talking, just wait for your turn.

Imagine him with Irani guy or Chavez. One of them is talking and Obama raising his hand to jump in!

Mr. McCain has earned to be the President.

My female liberal friend, though, couldn't stop going on about how much Obama not knowing what name was on his bracelet. Drove her NUTS.

Exposed Obama as a major phony. He goes on about this big emotional thing, and at the punch line can't remember the name?

Imagine your friend getting a line from a guy about how deeply connected he felt about her, and at the peak he draws a blank on her name? I could see that producing very bad reactions in women.

If we could get that exact clip on youtube and send it to all the women we know, that would sink Obama right there.

You are so right. That was a great moment. Completely ignored by the media afterward as they fell all over themselves trying to say "no memorable lines tonight".

My favorite comment of the evening, though, was in saying that 0 doesn't know the difference between strategy and tactics.

. . .men get it and appreciate the smackdown, but so far I've not heard too many women comment on it.

It is interesting that you say this! Right before McCain made that comment I turn to my sister and said, "Oh for crying out loud! Ask the dummy if he knows the difference between a strategy and a tactic!!" When McCain said it a few minutes later she looked at me with surprise and then we both laughed at Zero's incompetence.

On a side note in reference to the looks and gestures of the Obambi . . .he was driving me crazy!!! When he would raise his finger to get Lehrer's attention and then when he wouldn't get it he would tighten his jaw muscles. Then the smirks and head shaking. I told my sister that people see these things, the arrogance that he should be ignored, the anger when he is directly contradicted.

I also got annoyed when he kept calling McCain, "John". It showed disrespect to a sitting Senator, at least in my opinion. I am thankful that McCain continued to call Zero, Senator Obama all night.

BUT! The best part was all the times the Messiah was looking directly at McCain when trying to make a point and all McCain would do is look straight ahead. McCain wouldn't give him the time of day and I think it pissed Zero off. It was priceless!!

There are really too many things Obambi did wrong and annoyed the heck out of me to list here. I am sure that some of you noticed things as well. McCain won, hands down.

Obama did the "point 1, 2 and 3" deal several times, after which McCain would find an overarhing point ~ call it the Ur-point within which 1, 2 and 3 are contained, and tell a story about how he was involved in creating it or disposing of it.

Obama seemed to sense this and reverted to single point challenges.

That's when McCain would bring up a moralistic story and wipe the stage with Obama.

The wrist band comment came off rather like a whimper.
