Obvious first question:
Is Independent Sector a tax-exempt organization?
I realize that most "progressive" organizations choose names which, in the real world, would invite constant prosecution for fraud and violations of "truth in packaging" laws; but such egregious partisanship must certainly deserve prosecution.
Where do we address our complaints?
I expect it is. It’s website should answer that. You can contact them (info on site as well) and you can take the time to scroll thru its members and see which ones you contribute to (there are so many you certainly do contribute to at least one) and ask them if they regard this an appropriate use of Aviv’s time and the organization’s name.
I don’t think her participation necessarily jeopardizes the tax exempt status of the organization as she might be able to establish she works for JStreet on her own time, but it might if she can’t.
Here is Independent Sector’s website with contact and membership info. http://www.independentsector.org/about/index.html
