they'll all frequently visit cemeteries and deface any gravestones with birth years between 1946 and 1964.

I'm going to advise my children to buy Karl Marx's birth place and burial place and sell beer and urinal tickets to both.

Self reliance skills and personal responsibility are our key lessons. And to never every trust anyone with everything. All eggs in one basket avoided at all costs here. Redundancy in all basic needs be it fiscal or physical. Know how to barter for services and skills. Help neighbors, support community and keep conservative values and traditions ahead of all others to survive a wild and wonderful world .

Never ever give a penny unless you know who the end recipient is and what that money will provide in the long run. Local donations only for us. School kids get coats and sports gear from us including cato’s declaration of independence and constitution booklets . Scouting for “local” girls and boys get cash for uniforms, facilities and outings.

Live within ones means, we divide our cash in 5 categories;

general fund for day to day needs
housing
transportation
savings
diversified investments

Not all inclusive.....just how we do it here in poohville !

Stay safe !

My son has a PhD in physics.

I told him to make as much money as possible, figure out how to hide it from the government and then move to Australia to avoid the civil war coming to the US.

SP and I went through Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University" some time back.... through church. Anyway, it didn't change a whole lot that we were doing, but it did "solidify" things for us.

Far too many people live beyond their means. If they didn't, I don't believe the sub-prime collapse could have ever happened.

Folks trying to keep up with the Joneses will wind up working for em at some point.

Dave is a fiscal come to jesus message lots of folks don’t pay attention to and fail miserably . Money or lack of destroys not only material wealth but families all to many times.

Balancing it all is a skill not everyone can master . You and Sweetie Pie clearly have a handle on it !

Dave's is some bitter medicine! Until you get used to it! Then it's just a way of life. We passed it on to the kids and now they think like him too....have a budget, and stick TO it!

We'd been doing Dave's methods and I was peeved because I had quit the huge money job. But then something happened to my truck that was going to cost several hundred dollars just for parts! SP had it in an "envelope"! She had putting a percentage in that envelope for this very thing for months by that time.

Now...there's enough in the "new truck" envelope to just go buy another one if this one completely goes out on me! ...and that's not including the "repairs" envelope!

We've got somewhere around a dozen envelopes now for various things. :-)

“1. It’s not just what you earn working that determines your financial success. How you invest, save, and manage your assets is a huge determinant of your financial future.
2. It’s more important to be able to lay your head on your pillow at night and go to sleep without financial worries than it is to have ‘stuff’. Don’t buy what you don’t need or can’t afford.
3. Work hard, play hard. Live your life. Hard work can lead to financial security, but it also pays off in many other ways, including giving you the joy of accomplishment, which makes the ‘play’ time all the sweeter.”

Wonderful advice!

TEN THINGS I LEARNED THE HARD WAY

1. Life is just like high school. The popular kids still run everything and have it great.

2. Hard work is for suckers. Successful people figure out ways to get stupid people to earn a living for them.

3. In a system that selects for the biggest bastard, being a kind, honest, hardworking person is a ticket to extinction.

4. If you are rich and/or famous, you can get away with practically anything, including in some cases murder.

5. The suits eat first. If there’s anything left over after they have finished, the artists, artisans, craftsmen, and skilled workers get the scraps.

6. Being smart is contra-survival. If you happen to have any intelligence, hide it. The stupid and brutal are the ones who run things; if you show signs of intelligence, they will view you as a threat and stop at nothing to destroy you.

7. Never buy anything that is advertised on TV or radio.

8. Stereotypes are often based in hard reality. Judge individuals individually, but don’t hesitate to use stereotypes when encountering groups of outsiders.

9. It is extremely difficult to make a fool of oneself with one’s lips pressed firmly together

10. All the wealth, power, and women in the world won’t buy you real happiness. Waste less time chasing them and more seeking God.

NOTE: I was popular in high school.

The new global economy is going to require personal responsibility for your own finances, not just being a good or hard worker.

Do not let someone else manage your money.
