Hagel's Remarks on Palin Irk GOP
Omaha World-Herald ^ | 9/19/08 | Robynn Tysver

The anger felt by many Nebraska Republicans toward Sen. Chuck Hagel rose to new heights Thursday after Hagel questioned whether Sarah Palin has the experience to serve as president.

State Republicans are "worn out" with Hagel and his propensity for controversial comments aimed at fellow Republicans, said Mark Quandahl, chairman of the Nebraska GOP.

Quandahl went out of his way to distance the state party from Hagel's remarks about Palin, the party's vice presidential nominee. Quandahl said few Nebraskans would agree with Hagel, the Nebraska party's senior elected official.

"The views expressed are his own and would not reflect the views of the Nebraska Republican Party and most Nebraskans, let alone most Nebraska Republicans," he said.

Gov. Dave Heineman said "most Republicans are not happy" with Hagel right now....

He’s just sore that he wasn’t chosen (for either the top or the bottom). His generally hostility towards Israel makes him an unsuitable choice.

Is Hagel becoming the Leiberman of the GOP?

This is one reason why there has been so much discord within Republican ranks, and the solution is one which requires a spine and some brass balls on the part of the titular head of the GOP, which is our illustrious President George W. Bush.

What Bush SHOULD have done a long time ago, when Hagel was backstabbing Republicans left and right, was to call the sonuvabitch in to the Oval Office, inform Hagel that he was no longer a member of the GOP, that he was being stripped of any and all Party perks, privileges and benefits, that he could just put a damn ‘I’ after his name because neither the National nor the Nebraska GOP was going to have anything more to do with him. No funding, no support, no nothin’.

Then tell Hagel that if he doesn’t like that, he can cart his ass on over to Harry Reid and join the damn ‘Rats, that he is persona non grata in the Republican Party and to get the Hell out of the Oval Office, that he would never step foot in the White House again unless it was on the Sunday afternoon public tour, or when a ‘Rat President was in Office.

If Hagel (or Jumpin Jim Jeffords, or that scumbag Lincoln Chaffee) had been dressed down and publically disgraced, it would have done wonders for Party discipline, and it would have demonstrated that there are consequences for being disloyal.

Well, it was a nice fantasy anyway.

Mark Quandahl, chairman of the Nebraska GOP why don’t you get off your political backside and work hard to get a Republican
elected in your state that more accurately reflects their conservative attitude ?
Get your state GOP to quit supporting RINO turds like Hagel in the 1st place.

Can’t we just kick the jerk out of the party? (I know we can’t — just a rhetorical question). At least Lincoln Chaffee had the decency to remove himself from the party.

No. Lieberman crosses party lines on reasoned issues. Hagel crosses lines because he’s a nutjob across the board. I can’t think of one issue he’s crossed the line for, that was reasoned.

Anybody wonder if the DNC is blackmailing Hagel into doing their bidding?

Two Hagelian crap-sandwiches in two days. I think that he is on the take with the DNC. I smell a cabinet position with O.

Hagel’s retiring folks. They could keep him out of the party for four months, but he’s gone.

GS: Now as you point out, the surge has not yielded all the political progress that everybody wanted, but clearly there have been fewer American casualties and the massacres have ended. You were wrong about that, weren’t you?

CH: No, I wasn’t wrong about that. We’ve lost over 900 dead Americans since the surge. Now if you want to dismiss that as “success,” that’ll be your interpretation. The fact is, in the end, all that matters is not a military tactical victory. Of course, when you flood the zone with American firepower, which is superior to anything in the world, we have the best soldiers, the best led, the best equipped (Nicole: the best equipped?) ….

GS: But you didn’t think that would work at the time.

CH: That’s not what I said. That’s not what I said. I said what you will do is you will further bog yourselves down in a situation, making the Iraqis more dependent on you, making it more difficult to get out. In the end, you’re not going to be any closer to a political reconciliation. If all this is working so well, George, then why are the Bush administration now talking about keeping brigades in there at 140,000, larger than what we had when the surge started? Why did Gen. Petraeus say last week—Gen. Petraeus—that there has not been commensurate political progress? That in the end is all that’s going to matter anyway. What the surge was all about, George, was trying to buy time for the Iraqis. They’ve not used that time very well. There’s no question, just like taking Saddam Hussein out, we were going to do that, we were going to do that probably dispatch him pretty quickly. That was never the issue. The issue is what happens after he’s gone.

Stand Up For Chuck!

GS=George Stephanopolous
CH=Stand Up Chuck Hagel

Hagel is a complete idiot and turd and its high time he is taken out.

He would lose a primary challenge at this point to a good candidate.

My thoughts exactly! That is the problem with a lot of the RNC, they just keep putting these losers back up for reelection. What’s a voter to do!?

Bush I and II never met a lawyer or apparatchik of the political class that they didn't like.

Totally asleep at the wheel when it comes to dealing with domestic enemies, I mean how do you be President when we won the cold war and still lose to that liar from Arkansas?

I don't think he even brought it up during the campaign.
