Wrong-o Deepak. Her husband is native American. Have you noticed?

It's a good thing that Deepak Chopra is so well-known for his serenity and his opposition to judgmentalism.

Otherwise, this might look like an badly-written hitpiece by a snake oil salesman.

It would be a shame to elect another Reagan, whose smiling persona was a stalking horse for the reactionary forces that have brought us to the demoralized state we are in.

What a crock.

He should stick to dispensing his quackery type of woo-woo “medical advice.”

You should have added the BARF ALERT warning. Dumbpak Chopra has the same argumentative skills as a DailyKos poster:

“1. Small town values — a nostaligic return to simpler times disguises a denial of America’s global role, a return to petty, small-minded parochialism. 2. Ignorance of world affairs — a repudiation of the need to repair America’s image abroad.”

Oh boy. I think he should stick to scamming people with his “enlightenment” routine.

Rigid stands on ... abortion — a scornful repudiation that these issues can be negotiated with those who disagree.

Most, though not all, pro-lifers want Roe repudiated so the abortion issue will be returned to the states and the political process.

IOW, pro-lifers want to negotiate and compromise the issue. It's the abortion fans who refuse to negotiate.

I used to respect Chopra, and admire his writing. I just got over that. He's an overeducated fool. He missed the boat in all known ways.

...reversing forty years of feminist progress...

If forty years of feminist progress means a woman like
Sarah Palin can’t be elected Vice President, what good
is it.

I'm always amused to see people minimize the challenges of being Governor of Alaska, the largest state in the US. Although there are, in fact, less than 700,000 residents in Alaska, those residents are scattered across a span that reaches about 2,300, measured between the two furthest points in the state.

While the number of people is small, many of the people who require government services, like law enforcement, emergency medical, and other social services, live in areas that can only be reached by aircraft or boat.

There are numerous native tribes in Alaska, and each of them have their own agreements with the State of Alaska to allow them fishing and hunting rights, as well as services and the areas in which they live. Each of those agreements needs to be monitored and sometimes violations need to be addressed. The Governor of Alaska has one of the largest National Guard forces of any governor in the US, and those forces are spread far across the state.

Beyond those factors Alaska doesn't have the benefit of bordering any other US state. So, while we see bordering states assisting in time of disaster, as we're watching right now with Hurricane Ike support, Alaska is pretty much “on its own” when they have a major disaster. Canada, while bordering Alaska, has very little population in the region, and Russia, to the west, can hardly help themselves.

The reality of the situation in Alaska is that Governor Palin’s duties probably mirror those duties of the President of the United States more than any other governor (certainly more than any US Senator or “community organizer”).
