In listening to the media and the Dems question whether she’s ready and how a young, short-term governor could be in this position, I keep thinking of Mordecai’s comment to Esther, when she herself had doubts: (paraphrasing) “And who’s to say that God didn’t put you in this position for such a time as this?”

Interesting parable. Sarah for Queen of Persia! :oD

Wouldn't that make McCain sort of Mordechai (or technically rather Xerxes) (sort of...)? Anyway Haman would be obviously Obama and the Democrat party.

Oh BTW Persia had also a Christian Queen in the 6th century... Shirin, the wife of King Khosrow II, who was also the King who received the "convert-or-die" letter from Mohammed (the same letter Bush BTW got from Ahmadinejad). Khosrow tore the letter to shreds. The following history didn't work out to well for Persia though.

GIBSON: What if Israel decided it felt threatened and needed to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities?

PALIN: Well, first, we are friends with Israel and I don’t think that we should second guess the measures that Israel has to take to defend themselves and for their security.

GIBSON: So if we wouldn’t second guess it and they decided they needed to do it because Iran was an existential threat, we would cooperative or agree with that.

PALIN: I don’t think we can second guess what Israel has to do to secure its nation.

GIBSON: So if it felt necessary, if it felt the need to defend itself by taking out Iranian nuclear facilities, that would be all right.

PALIN: We cannot second guess the steps that Israel has to take to defend itself.

That’s odd. I had been taught that the book of Esther was probably Apocryphal and historically inaccurate, with no redeeming features for use as an example for the Christian believer...?

What gives here? I’m not so sure I like the Idea of Sarah Palin being inspired by the Book of Esther.

I think Sarah is more like the talented young shepherd who was grossly misunderestimated for his limited experience ~ yet took on a giant with confidence, humility and inspired judgment as his only armor.

And he became king.

Palin is exactly what America need.
An outsider that can sort the graft from the chaff.

I can understand the comparisons with Esther, but Sarah Palin reminds me more of Deborah from the book of Judges.

Beginning to think that all the hysteria is nothing more than a coverup. The real fear is that the special interests are going to be minimized.

Not naive enough to believe there will be no more lobbyists but I believe that McCain/Palin are going to put this country first.

Gov Lingle's speech was very hard hitting and overlooked by the media.

I read the book of Esther the other day. You know who really benefited from Esther's willingness to put her life on the line was her old uncle Mordecai. Of course the Jews did pretty well too didn't they.
