There are strange happenings in the world of international jurisprudence that do not bode well for the future of free speech. In an unprecedented case, a Jordanian court is prosecuting 12 Europeans in an extraterritorial attempt to silence the debate on radical Islam.
The prosecutor general in Amman charged the 12 with blasphemy, demeaning Islam and Muslim feelings, and slandering and insulting the prophet Muhammad in violation of the Jordanian Penal Code. The charges are especially unusual because the alleged violations were not committed on Jordanian soil.
Among the defendants is the Danish cartoonist whose alleged crime was to draw in 2005 one of the Muhammad illustrations that instigators then used to spark Muslim riots around the world. His co-defendants include 10 editors of Danish newspapers that published the images. The 12th accused man is Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders, who supposedly broke Jordanian law by releasing on the Web his recent film, "Fitna," which tries to examine how the Quran inspires Islamic terrorism.
Jordan's attempt at criminalizing free speech beyond its own borders wouldn't be so serious if it were an isolated case. Unfortunately, it is part of a larger campaign to use the law and international forums to intimidate critics of militant Islam. For instance, in December the United Nations General Assembly passed the Resolution on Combating Defamation of Religions; the only religion mentioned by name was Islam. While such resolutions aren't legally binding, national governments sometimes cite them as justification for legislation or other actions.

That is the same conclusion I have come to. We will eventually have to fight them on a large scale I fear.
Coming soon to an American town near you.
Similar scenario coming to a city near you if we see an Obama administration.
Ah shucks! It’s just that ole religion of peace! /s
islam can kiss my all-American ass.
It is already here in the form of prosecuting our soldiers for doing their job.
“We will eventually have to fight them on a large scale I fear.”
That’s a given.
Not as long as we have a 2nd Amendment...
“Muslim feelings”
Damn! What about the rest of the world’s “feelings?”
Islam isn’t a religion. It’s a vast criminal conspiracy to commit murder, extortion and slavery.
I will eat pork ribs the day before the muzziez come for me
The same thing is going on at the UN. They have a committe, headed up by muslims, that want to do the same thing..........around the world.
Blackforrest a day till the muzziez come to play... On Jewish Rye!
Hide what you got and buy more.
i’m not religious,
but the united states is a judeo-christian culture.
Two polls tell a story that is hard to ignore.
One in Canada, when a group of Muslim terrorists planed to take over the Parliament and decapitate the PM of Canada. A poll done by one of the Canadian papers showed about 25% of Canadian Muslims either fully supported or "had no problem" with these attacks and their goals.
In the UK, another poll asked very similar questions after the train bombings in London — the results were almost exactly the same, give a point or two.
If 25% of Muslims — in the west — support or condone such acts, then the mistrust of the Muslim community is well warranted, especially since I would assume that MANY in these polls supported the terrorists but did not want to say so.
In any case, that would mean is is fair to surmise that there ARE 10s of thousands who would support or condone terrorism in North America...as well as all through Europe....especially since Muslims do NOT integrate into the societies of these western countries, even the ones who are naturalized citizens.
I have put in some time studying the concepts of Natural Law and International Law as they were traditionally understood. Stuff like the International Court of Justice in the Hague has absolutely nothing to do with REAL international law.
The whole UN movement and the NWO movement and the Eurosnobs and the leftist Justices on SCOTUS who cite this stuff in their decisions have developed ideas that are dangerous to Democracy and the rule of law as it is traditionally understood.
And the Muslims are cleverly riding on these movements, appealing to the Multicultis and the effete leftists.
We have to take ALL of this stuff, deep-six it, and get back to our constitution and traditional ideas of right and wrong. ISLAM JUST DOESN’T FIT. Stoning women, knifing daughters or sisters who get out of line, marrying multiple wives and divorcing them at will, killing people who refuse to be MUSLIM—just doesn’t fit into our western civilization. There’s no way it will ever fit in, unless we want to bow down and let them rule us, as Islam demands.
Agreed
Many thanks go to the swimmer and the peanut farmer.
Just asking a hypothetical question.
Honestly, a day rarely goes by that I don’t violate the Jordanian Penal Code. ‘Bad mouthing’ dead, caravan raiding, narcissistic cult leaders is a habit I recommend acquiring.
F’Kallah, D’eth t’Islam.
F’Kallah, D’eth t’Islam.
The paper is kind of rough, but it is two-ply and quite absorbent.
Did you mention pedophile, robber, rapist?
THE RELIGION OF MALIGNANTLY NARCISSISTIC ENTITLEMENT AND THE IDIOTS WHO LOVE THEM FOR IT
Halfway down the page
F’Kallah, D’eth t’Islam....{ repeat 5 times daily....} face West....
Yep
Someone, somewhere will have to built the mother of all prisons to hold everyone that has something nasty to say about Islam. I for one won’t stop saying what I think about it.
So are they going to try and go get them from Europe? How about all the hate preaching that Muslims do?
IT IS ALWAYS A ONE WAY STREET WITH MUSLIMS.
the whole uncivilized world is donning a 'bomb me' sign lately...wonder what is in the air...
This case from the 1990s always bugged me.
“Lauck was able to subvert German law by producing neo-nazi material, which is constitutionally protected in the United States, and then smuggle it into Germany. In the United States, all political speech is protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, while in Germany, political speech that advocates undermining the German constitution or overthrowing the government is illegal.” “ In 1995, Lauck was arrested in Denmark. He fought extradition all the way to the Danish Supreme Court, but lost. He was extradited to Germany for disseminating “anti-constitutional” literature. He was convicted by a Hamburg Court and was sentenced to four years in prison.
Lauck returned to Lincoln upon his release from prison in 1999,”

I don’t think that is necessarily true. Fanatical Islam is not compatible with Western culture. Look at the Kurds for example - they are Islamic, but it is still a very tolerant culture, they value education and have realistic goals for the future...democracy is truly alive in Iraqi Kurdistan. (Google “the other Iraq” or go to Youtube to see the videos)
It really is a shame...if the rest of Iraq could objectively look north and really see all of the good things that are happening in Iraqi Kurdistan, maybe democracy could actually succeed in Iraq. I have been watching the Kurds for the last several years and I am touched and encouraged by all that’s being accomplished in Kurdistan.
I mentioned, "child-molester" but I didn't want to be too harsh
Second Infidel: F'Kallah!
First Infidel: D'eth t'Islam!
