Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
In his usual, off prompter, style, the empty suit tried to claim in his press conference this morning that his lipstick comment was not an attack on Governor Palin.
This might have worked had he not, as you pointed out, followed the lipstick slur with the old fish slur.
It doesn’t take a detailed reading of Freud’s “Psychopathology of Everyday Life” to know that the empty suit meant exactly what he said; his audience knew exactly what he meant and the McCain campaign knows exactly that his crude comments referred to Sarah Palin and John McCain.
I’ve heard some long in the tooth Publicans go out of their way to give the empty suit the benefit of the doubt. If any of you are reading this, STICK YOUR NOSE WHERE IT BELONGS; YOU LOST YOUR FIGHT IN 2006. THIS IS A NEW ERA!!!

Those ladies are justifiably pissed at the empty suit....there is also You Tube video of Suit making his comments....the link is about 2 or 3 pages down.

I disagree. Everyone knows she is not unattractive; he wasn’t calling her a pig. He used a lame phrase, and definitely should have thought better of saying it, because this firestorm was 100% avoidable, yes. But, as usual, both partisan sides go overboard with every perceived slight. :sigh:

That’s the way I see it. Conservatives are sounding like thin-skinned feminazis. Remember how Palin’s speech in the convention did not retaliate directly to the smears. That was very effective! Perhaps she should respond by pointing out how foolish Obama looks trying to use the folksy “lipstick on a pig” remark to appeal to people he sees as trailer park trash who cling to guns and religion.
He's trying to tell us he's one of the few people in he world who didn't notice the insult? Then he's not very observant and doesn't deserve to be president. If he's lying and he did say what he meant, he doesn't deserve to be president.

Obama called McCain/Palin policies a pig. With all the dumb and wrong things Obama says, we don't need to take the guy out of context. It can only backfire.

Add to that, Biden’s latest gaffe about her newborn, Trig, saying that if she was for allowing a child with a defect like that to survive, why are they against Stem Cell research?
BIDEN, you IDIOT! Stem Cell research only happens when people kill their unborn children.
By all means, let Biden talk all he wants.
To try to clarify my point, Obama's stuff here is not a free speech matter, in the constitutional sense, because the constitution is referring to government intervention in suppressing speech. That's all it ever refers to.
What we have here is simply Obama's being entitled to an opinion, for which society is entitled to punish or reward him.
I didn't mean to be fastidious about it. It's not that big a deal.
Because he meant Sarah Palin.
Because if McCain said you should call a spade a spade, they’d crucify him.
And because of George Allen.
Doesn't matter. His crowd thought that is what he meant, and he didn't correct them.
