Yea. I’ll get that into the lexicon under the Glossary.

Is this ping a suggestion to add “Geriatric Sluts” to the lexicon, by any chance? ;-)

meme:a cultural item that is transmitted by repetition in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes.
Yeah, that helps! I need a dictioary to see what the dictionary says.

Here ya go (from webster):
an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture.
Kind of like the vocabulary version of a fashion fad (a vocabulary fad?)...

I'll consider adding it, but I need to know more about it.
How did it originate?
What is a good meaning/definition for the term?
Anyone want to claim credit for coining the term for FR use?
Is it fairly limited to FR, how long has it been used, and how widespread is it?

Regarding moose — that all got mixed up with Montgomery County Police Chief Moose (aka PC Moose) who was investigating the John Allen Mohammed sniper killings by putting out a composite sketch of a nondescript white van, prompting howls of outrage over van color profiling.
It turned out to be a blue sedan.

The first three “chapters” in FR, all organized around the same time, were Florida, Puget Sound (WA) and Los Angeles. I believe the very first organized and regular chapter meetings were in LA. Several others developed quickly including Connecticut, Dallas, Phoenix...others who remember that far back should chime in. At one time we had over 50 regularly organized chapters with chapter leadership/officers and many more unofficial ones.
It was mainly through these official and unofficial chapters that the Free Republic Network was able to help organize rallies in over 250 cities during the run up to the Iraq war and during the Election debacle of 2000. Free Republic Network member “registered” created or assisted in creating the “Sore-Loserman” and “Dem Crying Baby” graphics (among hundreds of others) and FRN board member “doughtyone” created a website where the graphics could be hosted, downloaded and printed into posters. That was one reason those posters/graphics were everywhere overnight.
Those were the glory days of FR activism. We had energy and vision. But FR activism succumbed to infighting and turf wars. Almost all of the good people just faded away, not caring to spend their time fighting those who were supposed to be allies. Now FR activism is relegated mostly to sparsely attended weekend confrontations with the useless, unimportant cankles at Code Pink.
From defeating Al Gore and insuring a military victory in Iraq to shouting down aging hippies. How sad.
BTW - The first FReepers to meet Jim Robinson and family in person were myself, BadJoe, Willa Johns and Clinton's a liar...we drove up to Fresno on July 4th, 1998 and met Jim in a park for a little bbq. Afterwards we went back to his house and FReeped from Jim's computers where I believe the famous “pool poopy” thread originated.

Oh, I doubt it is a term worthy of the lexicon, being highly localized.
You see, periodically Allegra will come home to Houston from Iraq.
We tend to throw a party or two, blow things up, grill dead animals, the usual stuff.
Somewhere along the line just the girls in the group decided they
needed to have some independent activities. They would meet up on
Westheimer (lots of restaurants and bars) and have lunch. Well,
on one such outing lunch stretched into dinner and later into bar hopping
and eventually ended up at breakfast.. still on Westheimer.
I thought this to be highly irresponsible and prophetically declared
that "no good can come of this" and pronounced the whole group
of wayward females to be "Geriatric Sluts". The name stuck.
They are now quite proud of this name.

“Geriatric Sluts” as opposed to “generic sluts” which is something different.

The irony is that we are neither geriatric nor are we sluts. :)
But, yes, we are proud of the name and it is certainly quite entrenched in the Houston FReeper Lexicon.
