A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.
Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

At least it’s more appropriately named (Global Poverty) than the usual leftist doublespeak.
It appears the socialists have moved from wanting equal poverty all over the country to equal poverty all over the world.
Funny, I made numerous remarks to the press about Obama’s tax plans. Now, I have been put on the “do not use” list.
The repression of freedom of speech has already begun.
I hope it gets to the floor of the senate and debated so Obama Bin Biden can try to defend it.
The vote was scheduled for Feb. 12, 2008. Was it passed? If it didn’t pass, then is it scheduled for a vote soon? What is the bill’s current status?
Consider them informed.
One of the few bills authored by Obama? Yep, I am sure this will become an ad in the battleground states. Can you imagine the reaction of the middle class? Most blue-collar workers hate the idea of any foreign aid. But a tax to do it? Wow.
Regardless, this bill was authored by Obama. A McCain ad on this needs to be created and played in MICHIGAN, PENNSYLVANIA, and OHIO IMMEDIATELY.
People there can't keep their own jobs, yet Obama wants them to pay for “the poor” in other countries.
This bill is a death blow to Obama if played correctly, considering the states he needs to win in order to get to the White House.
They are stepping in it again...
Sarah Palin: When I said my opponent hadn’t written any significant legislation, he got all upset, claiming I was mistaken. Well, he was right. I was mistaken. In fact, he did write a piece of legislation that as Americans, you should not only find significant, but also VERY alarming...
S 2433 RS
To require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.
Mr. OBAMA (for himself, Mr. HAGEL, Ms. CANTWELL, Mrs. FEINSTEIN, Mr. LUGAR, Mr. DURBIN, Mr. MENENDEZ, Mr. BIDEN, Mr. DODD, Mr. FEINGOLD, Ms. SNOWE, Mrs. MURRAY, Mr. HARKIN, Mr. JOHNSON, Mr. SMITH, and Mr. KERRY) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations
Reported by Mr. BIDEN, with amendments and an amendment to the title

Exactly. The GOP should run an ad as this being one of Obama’s few “accomplishments” - raising taxes on American’s to redistribute all over the world.
Maybe that’s why 200,000 people showed up in Germany.
Perhaps they thought they would be getting the money then and in cash.
Osama is so ripe for plucking. Two months to go. They must be spaced out for maximum effect.

Obama is a Marxist. 90% goes to dictators and the rest is pilfered in the rank-and-file soldiers and bureaucrats who make nothing, create nothing and wait for money to be handed to them as they sleep on oil reserves and wheat fields that are un-used.
Maybe when Obama starts send $50/month of HIS money to brother George in Kenya, I'll start to believe he gives a damn about poverty rather than redistribution...and maybe I won't.
B. Husssein says his brother never asked for money, that he is off the hook on that subject.

Carling, I quite agree with your comments on the importance of this legislation.
Thanks, rvoitier, for answering my question. I sent this info to a number of people when it first was published by AIM.
Another poster in this thread has the right idea, re: having Gov Palin say she was mistaken about Obama’s legislation; that there is one bill the American public definitely needs to know about. Kudos for the idea to the poster who posted it.
>of reducing by one-half the proportion of people >worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 >per day.
Apart from the fact that world-socialism is the goal.
This would create rampant inflation in these countries and regions about which niether they nor the US could do anything.
But what have facts got to do with it, right ?
