Thinking too much can make you eat more. Researchers at Universite Laval say intellectual work raises peoples' calorie intake and could be a reason for obesity.
A group of 14 students were invited to eat as much as they wanted at a buffet, after taking part in three different tasks:
* Sitting down and relaxing * Reading and summarizing a text * Finishing memory and attention tests on a computer
All the tasks turned out to be low energy -- students only needed three more calories to do the mental work than to rest. However, they spontaneously ate 203 more calories after summarizing the text and 253 more calories after the computer tests.
Blood samples taken before, during, and after the sessions also showed...

It’s probably not quite as far from the truth as people might be inclined to think. When I think too much I stew, when I stew I get tense and when I’m tense I eat. If I was a smoker I’d probably smoke rather than eat or I might do both.

Enter Michael Moore...Michael Moore (quote), from his website, April 14, 2004...

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?"
[actual quote from Michael Moore (2004). It still appears on his website]

The brain probably uses essential nutrients that we have not yet identified. High activity in the brain and depletion of these nutrients should result in a craving for food.
This craving happens with all identified nutrients. Calories are not the body’s only requirement. Eating fresh, vitamin rich food allowed me to not feel hungry and lose 80lbs in 6 months.

Thinking too much, as definitely seen in Mr Moore’s case, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re thinking right.

Funny. When I think a lot I forget to eat. I forget to do anything but what I am thinking about. Mental work and focus doesn’t make you hungrier, it makes you forget about hunger. This study is very flawed.
To: varyouga
Thinking too much, as definitely seen in Mr Moores case, doesnt necessarily mean youre thinking right. That's the point I was making. That if you think too much about food, you have little, if anything, left over for thinking about anything else.
