Biden says Palin family is off limits to critics

** EXCERPT **

ST. PAUL, MINN. (AP) - Republican presidential nominee John McCain began his final drive for the White House on Thursday with a boost from running mate Sarah Palin while Democratic opponent Joe Biden declared her family "off limits" and suggested that some news media coverage of her had been sexist.

Palin and her husband, Todd, announced this week that their 17-year-old unmarried daughter was pregnant and would be marrying her boyfriend, saying they were making a private matter public because of Internet rumors. Biden said the Democratic campaign was not attacking Palin over her family.

"It is off limits to talk about her family," Biden said in an interview with "Fox and Friends" on Fox News Channel. "Every family has difficulty as they're raising their children. I think the way she's handled it has been absolutely exemplary."

Methinks Biden has perhaps had a problem or two with one (or more) of his kids in the past.

Yep, this is more about Biden than it is about Palin. He’s trying to set himself up on this so that he doesn’t sound hypocritical when the crap hits the fan.

But, I don’t know what he’s worried about—the MSM will carry his water anyway.

He’s thinking “Please lay off the Palin’s kids...because I REALLY don’t want you to go there with me!”

Motives aside, you have to give Biden & Obama their due here.

biden probably has had trouble with kids, but

I think he is getting the message that it doesn’t matter to Sarah Palin What they say it is not standing in the way of her success.

As adults. As lobbyists. As getting a sweet contract from MBNA while Biden was carrying water for that bank.

Biden’s not politically stupid. He’s probably seeing the way that the nutroots’ attacks on Palin are backfiring and just making her even more popular, driving PUMAs toward her, and firing the Republican base up. This is damage control...and then there’s the fact that Biden’s had some family issues himself (the tragic death of his first wife and kids, some of his later children having legal problems) and really can’t throw any stones.

"Biden said the Democratic campaign was not attacking Palin over her family."

Biden thinks that since the dems have the MSM doing the dirty work that it won't reflect badly on the campaign. I find that terribly funny and entirely wrong! lol

Isn't it cute that Biden is pretending to take the 'high road'.

Rewarding behavior that should come to every person on earth naturally shouldn't earn you any credit. You are expected to act like a decent human being. This is like saying "Give me credit, I have never been to jail." - ala Chris Rock.

I give them absolutely no credit. Sure is easy to make these statements after a full week of lies and innuendos. Hell it was probably Obama and Biden’s minions that started these rumors, lies and attacks on her children and family in the first place.

Past?? Biden’s son was indicted on Mon (or Tues) by the state of NY for fraud. And his daughter was arrested yesterday for assaulting a police officer. Biden wants a candidates children to be off limits because he doesn’t want any attention paid to his ...

Family should be off-limits to the extent of regular porblems-Bristol Pailin's pregnancy, for example, or if Joe Biden's kids have had a drug problem in the past (no idea if that is the case).

But if family gets involved in political or ethical issues, then they should not be off limits.

Too late. Obama authorized this, so these reports will continue. And if Governor Palin keeps slamming back in their faces like she did last night at the RNC, he'll come to regret that decision quite quickly.

Although I agree with you in part, even Biden - who’s been around for a while - has to see that the attacks have gone over the top and could hurt the O’Biden ticket.

Nah, no “due” given here. It’s easy to condemn the attacks when you know your buddies in the press will keep them up for you and leave no trail back to you. Age-old Democrat trick.
