The Democrats and their willing accomplices and devoted leftists in the media have completely lost it and they've gone rabid. They are trashing Palin and McCain throwing anything and everything against the wall hoping to derail the GOP.
The level of hatred and viciousness underlies the DemonRATS desperation and the brilliance and wisdom of McCain's decision. Take a look at these headlines (just from Yahoo news this morning):

And we're supposed to still believe that the mainstream media is "fair and balanced." This is as partisan, malicious, and subjective as it gets.
They did the same thing to Ronald Reagan, but there was no Internet to counter-balance the lies and BS. The media will only succeed in mobilizing the conservatives and making us fight 3 times harder to defeat the forces of lies and corruption in this country.
The MSM is solidifying the Republican base around McCain-Palin as McCain himself was never able to do. They are also alienating moderate Democrats. I spoke to two die hard Dems this morning who were very impressed with Palin when they heard her on Fiday and are disgusted with theie party and the medis.
This leaves us with only one weapon of choice: REPUBLICAN VICTORY IN NOVEMBER!!!
I bet there are 100x more “journalists” working overtime to dig up dirt on Palin than reporters working on Obama’s connection to Aires, Rezko, etc.
They just won’t stop talking about Obama’s speech last week, or about his brilliant pick of Joe Biden.
Now Palin can go in front of 100 million people and blow each of those reasons out of the water.
I wouldn’t call it a mere ‘attack machine’. words mean things - it’s a “SMEAR machine”.

Exactly right. I think these attacks will soon backfire. Most Americans have an innate sense of fair play, and will realize the MSM has crossed over the line.
