Democrat Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida (and Maryland) tonight smeared Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin as a Nazi sympathizer sympathizer.
Wexler, who represents a district with a significant Jewish population, threw out the vile charge after a 1999 Associated Press article reported Palin was seen wearing a Pat Buchanan for president button on a visit by Buchanan to Wasilla, Alaska when she was mayor.
Ben Smith at the Politico published Wexler's statement:
John McCain's decision to select a vice presidential running mate that endorsed Pat Buchanan for President in 2000 is a direct affront to all Jewish Americans. Pat Buchanan is a Nazi sympathizer with a uniquely atrocious record on Israel, even going as far as to denounce bringing former Nazi soldiers to justice and praising Adolf Hilter for his "great courage."
At a time when standing up for Israel's right to self-defense has never been more critical, John McCain has failed his first test of leadership and judgment by selecting a running mate who has aligned herself with a leading anti-Israel voice in American politics. It is frightening that John McCain would select someone one heartbeat away from the presidency who supported a man who embodies vitriolic anti-Israel sentiments.
Smith reports Palin denied at the time endorsing Buchanan:
She promptly responded to the story in a letter to the editor, that "the article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla. As mayor, I will welcome all the candidates in Wasilla."
Smith adds that the AP reported Palin was "an official of Steve Forbes' campaign that cycle."
Tonight on Hardball, Buchanan said Palin "brigadier for me" in 1996 and that Palin and her husband attended a fundraiser for him.
Smith notes that it doesn't appear Palin donated to Buchanan's campaigns.
The left is going to milk this for all it's worth. Wexler is one of the nastiest pieces of work in the Democratic party. His smear of Palin as a Nazi sympathizer sympathizer is par for the course.
What this makes the Democratic party's own cable news channel, MSNBC, which pays Buchanan to offer his opinions on a daily basis, Wexler doesn't say. Maybe he'll ask Obama to boycott MSNBC like he boycott's Fox.

Wexler lives in a glass house, so I say people who live in glass houses should shut their mouth. Wexler also has a potty mouth to boot. Maybe he needs to move to Florida instead of living is parents home, votes in Florida, collects his pay from Florida, but where is he living, not in Florida. Liar, also one of his attributes. I should say, maybe the Internal Revenue would like to audit his taxes.

Charges such as this are just the beginning. As the election draws closer, the intensity of these accusations will increase as will their virulence and falsity. And as the Left is desperate for power, expect physical violence as well.

The oddest thing about this is that wexler is a Jew who thinks other Jews are simpletons. Any of the Jews living in his district who would change back to supporting barack mcgovern because of this stupid comment weren’t voting Mccain anyway.

Yes, he covers part of Palm Beach (I’m in Palm Beach) and Broward. I have Jewish friends here, and mostly they are good people, altho most are liberal (not all—my pastor is a Jew who converted to Christianity). But most of them are not mean spirited folk like Wexler. He’s a dishonest and nasty little man. It’s hard to believe the 19th Congressional District can’t do better than this media you-know-what.

His district (parts of Palm Beach and Broward counties) is one of the most liberal. It is peopled, for the most part, by transplants from NY and environs. Except for the beautiful weather, if you come down here, you will imagine you are in NYC.

Getting back to Wexler, it just seems there is/should be some sort of FL law that prevents someone not even living in the STATE, much less, the district, to be able to hold the job of supposedly representing the people of that district in DC.
Also, did you hear, this A-hole came out last nite accusing Sarah of being a Nazi Sympathizer because she wore a Pat Buchanan button when he visited AK?
I am sick of it as well—The thing that I hate this time is everyone being called a racist if they use a wrong word or do not worship Obama.
Wexler hasn’t LIVED in FL for years and years........floridians should SHUN him.
