Barack Obama: Leap of Faith
Wall Street Journal ^ | August 28, 2008 | DANIEL HENNINGER

Posted on 08/28/2008 4:26:11 AM PDT by ricks_place

"Every four years the Democrats send us another Governor we have to get to know."

So said The Wall Street Journal editorial page in 1992 as the electorate began its discovery of Arkansas's then-obscure governor, Bill Clinton. In 1988 it was Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis, and before that Georgia's Jimmy Carter. "The real question," the Journal's editorialist wondered, "is why the party that dominates Congress has to keep putting up unknowns to contest the world's most powerful political office." Once again, the author mused, the system must "come to grips at the presidential level with more Democratic mystery."

Now comes the most mysterious Democratic presidential candidate in the memory of any living voter -- Barack Obama. After a 19-month run for the presidency, we still don't know him.

Jimmy Carter, the previous holder of the most mysterious candidate title, served four years as a reform governor in Georgia. Bill Clinton, though little known beyond Arkansas, was a governor for 12 years.

The U.S. presidency is a political office, and nearly all nominees for it had a record in politics to offer a basis for shaping a view of how they might conduct the nation's highest office.

By this most traditional of measures, the Obama candidacy is a leap of faith.

I think we definitely know him, but that radical, anti-American, Marxist, terrorist-loving guy is going to have a HARD time getting mainstream America to fall for his facade when the truth about him gets out.

Not only is he grossly inexperienced to be President, but he also lacks the commonsense judgment to mold into the role. He is a narcissist whose goals are not shared by the majority of Americans.

His supporters try to skirt the issue of his total inexperience by comparing him to Abraham Lincoln in terms of political experience! Amazing.

I am utterly confounded by the number of mindless obama supporters I run into. It may just be where I live but it's got me and my wife making plans for a rough ride downhill.

We have four kids (21-22-26-33). The oldest is as Conservative as I am. The youngest is getting that way. The middle two just parrot everything obama that they hear from their co-workers in the health field (they both work in large hospitals).

I think it will be a landslide for McCain but I've been wrong before and the stakes now are higher than any election since Lincoln.

It is not a “leap of faith” but a disdaining of all the instincts that allowed our ancestors to survive and make our own lives possible. It is also a disdaining of the Word of God.

It is obvious. The Dems have to nominate unknowns! Their anti-American views are are so repulsive that the only way they can get enacted is by the Judicial branch, or a stealth candidate who can hide his real beliefs.
