Norah: What Gives With Obama's God-like Shtick?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 08/27/2008 2:26:27 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Between Maureen Dowd's column of this morning and Norah O'Donnell's questioning of an Obama spokesman this afternoon, it looks like Barack's halo is losing its glow in some MSM sectors. Obama spokesman Bill Burton was O'Donnell's guest just after 3 PM EDT, and she read to him from Dowd's column, which he jokingly professed not to have read.

NORAH O'DONNELL [reading Dowd]: "Ed Rendell compared Obama to the passive-aggressive Adlai Stevenson and told the Washington Post that Obama gives six-minute answers and "is not exactly the easiest guy in the world to identify with."

Boos from the pro-Obama crowd in Denver.

O'DONNELL: There is this sense that he is not the easiest guy to identify with: the Republicans say "celebrity." And already today I'm hearing from Republicans that Invesco Field Thursday night, he is going to be stepping out from some Greek-columned stage that we have pictures of [see screencap], and he, this god-like deity once again. How are you going to combat that criticism that the Republicans say, one again, Barack Obama, uh, is, um, trying to be god-like?

I did not think it possible, but Obama may be MORE arrogant than Bill Clinton.

Megyn Kelly just interviewed an Obama spokesman on Fox News who poo pooed McCain campaign criticisms of the display. He said it was similar to the Bush display of 2004. I don’t have any memory to serve me on that one. So, it seems they’re prepared to go ahead with it even though some Democrats have begun questioning the logic.

On another front. Bill Clinton is being given 10 minutes to speak (ostensibly because that’s how long he said his speech would take), and Biden 20 minutes.

There's the mod who in a fit of idiocy, pulled Charles Krauthammer's post on the same theme! I think its gonna go downhill for ObaCaesar from here on and it won't be pretty!

And that explains Obama's decision to portray himself as a Greek god just how?

He wants to lock in the hotly-contested Greek vote? ;-)

ROFL! Bill Clinton is famous for hogging the clock and I'd expect Joe Biden's acceptance speech to start way past prime time - just like with the Hildabeast's speech last night. The Obama camp doesn't know how to run a successful convention!

What I didn't report: Bill Hemmer bet his speech would last 16 minutes; Megyn Kelly bet 20 minutes.

Obama's gonna get a lesson in the ancient Greek concept of hubris.

Obama’s campaign is in a lose-lose. If they change the decor, they’re admitting it was a bad idea. If they go ahead, they’ll continue to get all the ridicule.

Here is a pic of the 2004 stage at the RNC convention.

4 pillars, not some greek stage with columns like the Roman Collesium!

I think Obama wants to throw us to the lions.

As I said last night, it’s not a Greek temple. It’s the Temple of Dagon. Or maybe the temple of Baal Maloch, where the first-born children were sacrificed.

And that’s not just a metaphor—that’s literally true, if Obama the extreme abortionist and child-killer is elected.

What’s with the rampant horse on top of the scenery, and does anyone know what’s on the front side?

Anyone who believes that looks eerily similar is fooling themselves. And, wasn’t it in the center where the convention was held? My nephew worked the convention floor and I believe it was in the same building.

Let us not forget the small difference that Bush WAS President at the time. To associate a sitting President with “White House” columns is simply a perk of position, like being followed around by reporters all day long, ready to take a sound bite.

I’m pretty sure the horse is a permanent part of the place - where the Denver Broncos play. If it was related to Obama, I’d argue that it’s shown from the wrong angle.
